Rick Santorum Campaigns at Crown College

If his campaign website is to be believed, Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum will be holding a “Rally for Rick” in the auditorium of Crown College at noon today.

I wonder if one of the students will be brave enough to try to hand him a gospel tract and convert him from his Catholic ways.  Perhaps they’re operating today under the special exception that Roman Catholics and Mormons are Christians during election years.

Update 1: The rally was held in the 3,000-seat sanctuary of Temple Baptist Church, not at nearby Crown College as was initially planned. The church operates the college.

  1. Didn’t Rick’s wife recently tell Glenn Beck that her husband’s campaign is “God’s will?” And clearly she is mistaken because God doesn’t speak to Catholics, so the only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that the Santorums are pathological liars or have been hearing demonic voices masquerading as the voice of god and thus this man is dangerous and should not be allowed anywhere near campus.

    1. Agreed. Clarence Sexton, in my experience, is extremely anti-Catholic. OTOH, I can see him hoping he would have some sort of “in” with a potential Prez. 🙄

  2. I live in the Knoxville area and per my name, I am in fact an ex-crownie….I don’t have the stomach to even step foot at that place so I can’t tell you about the “Rally for Rick” but I can say that it did happen!

  3. As my name states I am a current student, and it did indeed happen. It was good to hear what he has to say so I can research ALL candidates and make my choice. Anyone who wants to use the facilities can, they just have to contact crown. Most of what he said was Biblical whether he is Catholic or not. This was not an endorsement but rather they rented the facilities. Have a great day!

  4. Casting Crowns called. They just want to “rent the building” for a concert. Most of what they is biblical. they aren’t looking for an endorsement, just a rented venue.

Um, any takers on that bet? 🙄

  5. Oh, CROWN College. I thought it said CLOWN College. That seems more plausible.

    1. Oh man! Clown College! How original you are… Give yourself a pat on the back and a smiley-face sticker.

  6. same-o, same-o. In ’76 it was Reagan at Tenn Temple, I think George WMD Bush spoke at BJU, Falwell had his share of politicians in the pulpit. Didn’t you all know that conservative Republicans are Christians during election years? I’m looking for a new bumper sticker: “The only kind of politician that blows more money and expands government at a faster rate than a liberal Democrat is a conservative Republican!”
