  1. And it sounds like you are calling all Christian churches “cults”. You are making typical atheist assumptions.

Those of us who persevere in the faith do not do so because of “spiritual abuse”. We persevere because God keeps us, and we love Him!

    1. You are making an assumption that I am calling all christian churches a cult. Why don’t you read what I wrote and not make any more out of what I said?! Furthermore you ought to decide which deffinition of cult you are going by, it is pretty clear from this site that most here agrees that IFB is a cult.

No one said that you or anyone perseveres in a faith because of spiritual abuse. I said you persevere because you fail to examine the fundamentals of the faith, (because you love God and he keeps you) Exactly!! You really aught not to twist people word.

Oh, and one more, I am not an atheist!! I am just amazed how many assumptions you have made in just 2 sentences.

      1. I know and have examined the fundamentals of the faith quite well (Original Sin/Total depravity, Predestination, Subsitutionary Atonement, Virgin Birth, Deity Of Christ, Bodily Resurrection, Inerrancy of Scripture, Salvation by Grace through Faith IN CHRIST ALONE).

You assume that evangelicals have not examined these fundamentals? Or maybe you’re just dishonest?

If you’re not an atheist, then what? Agnostic? Monistic? Pantheist? Why not tell us?

        1. Demanding, aren’t you? See, I don’t succome to people demands, and frankly who do you think you are to make such demands? Why do you care what I am or believe, to argue? My beliefs doesn’t insist that I argue religion with others.

        2. You are the one posting the typical atheist/materialist propaganda claiming that Christians haven’t examined our faith, and that if we did, we would not be Christians. We here this kind of falsehood all the time, but we will not let it stand.

        3. Sometimes I wish I knew a little more about people on here. (Some days I wish I knew a little less) But today I am really curious. Bison, how old are you? Where did you study? What church do you go to? Are you married? How do you treat your wife? What would you say is your greatest fear? What kind of devotional life do you have? Is your hair long, or short? (Or do you have hair at all?) What is your favorite food? Color? Tree? Flower. Ok, I asked you questions. Answer them.

        4. LOL πŸ˜† πŸ˜† Sims, you crack me up.

Mr. Bison, I did not realize that I was posting typical atheistic/materialist propaganda…that’s interesting, hmmmm.

        5. I didn’t catch that either, and I actually went all the way back to where this particular trail of the thread began to re read it because I thought, “I didn’t get the impression Monipenny was an athiest or unbeliever and then well… I admit it… I couldn’t resist getting involved. I am having a rather slow day and had nothing better to do. (But I am still waiting for those answers to my questions.) I hope s/he hurries up with them before I think up a bunch more.

        6. You said Christians remain so only because we “fail to examine the fundamentals of the faith.” Those are your words. And I have pointed out the fact that you are a liar.

        7. Oh, and one more thing. You (Bison) and others here are trying to tell me what to do, and I will not stand for that. I don’t know but think I am pretty sure this is why most people leave controling cult groups.

        8. Bison, you are a liar!!! You have NOT examined the fundamentals of the faith. I have talked to so many ex-christians and their sole reason for leaving christianity was the direct result of useing their own brain and cross-examined the fundamentals of the faith, the cannonization of the bible, the history of the church in the making, etc,. Studying this and examining this are 2 different things. Don’t make me call you a bonehead.

        9. Is that the verse where you will shake the dust off of your feet? I hope so. Is that you way of having no more defense left?

        10. Actually, I think he’s calling you the anti-Christ, Monipenny. Holy Cow, Harold Camping was right; the rapture happened and we missed it!

        11. Ok, Bison, here it is… You are throwing scripture out here that isn’t really applicable since Monipenny (and most of the others here) have NOT gone out and away from Christianity but rather away from the cultish artificial controlling verson of it to find TRUE FREEDOM in Christ. So when you try to use that verse as some kind of either scare tactic baseball bat or perhaps the little kudo to yourself that YOU haven’t “gone out” and are still securely chosen and in place, you fail to realize that ALOT of people who don’t hold ALL the same beliefs as you do doctrinally are STILL Christians and MOST of the people sitting around you in those pews worshipping their pastor are NOT. SO get off your high horse and quit trying to save us. We have been where you are. ALL of us have. You are not going to put the chains back on us.

        12. Oh Simsy, it’s okay…take a deap breath….That does not offend me as a non-christian, that is what an anti-christ is, a non christ follower. I know it’s hard to not over-react after years spiritual abuse from the likes of him.

        13. Bison, lets turn this back around now shall we? Go back and see where some typical fundy like yourself made typical fundy propeganda claims “such a shame that people leave the christian faith all together because of spiritual abuse from a cult, or christian cult”. Those were not the exact words, but the same BS I have heard enough and I will not stand for that. Because that is pure BS, that means that is a lie, straight up and furtheremore, you accuse all those who left christianity an atheist?! Not every non-christian is an atheist. This makes you a liar and you do know what your bible says about liars, right? Something about having their place in the lake of fire?! This is the original arguement that you so cleverly and deceiptfully turned around and then called me a liar. hmmmmm, go figure.

  2. What are you good at? What kind of cookies do you like? Do you have a dog? Who is your favorite historical figure? (Not counting Jesus) What is your favorite pastime? Do you watch TV or movies? If so, do you have a favorite? If so, what is it? Do you like books? (other than Bible commentaries) If so, do you have a favorite? If so, what is it? If you had to choose between being burned alive or buried alive, which would it be? (that is a tough one, you can skip that one if you want to) Ok, so there are some more questions you can answer for me. Thanks so much.

    1. Ok, now I am kind of irritated because those questions are supposed to go up there where Bison’s last comment is. Now they are going to pop in out of nowhere after you two have continued to do whatever this is you are doing here and it will make ME look like some kind of CRAZY person. (And we all know that I am NOT some kind of crazy person…)

      1. LOL, πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† Sims, it’s okay, just accept it.

PS. I am not an atheist, don’t believe that bonehead.

        1. I am guessing I will not be getting answers to my questions. Oh well. I am glad you are not an athiest. I was going to start praying for you. Do you think some of these guys are here hoping to teach us something we might have missed? I get that feeling. Maybe they are just amusing themselves though. Either way, sometimes I really want to SEE who is writing some of this stuff.

        2. That’s because you asked nicely, you should have demanded for answers. I mean after all, shouldn’t one practice what they preach?

Just to be clear, I am not a follower of Christ either, I don’t want you to get the wrong impression. But I can get along just nicely with christians, well, some of them, lol.

  3. What are you good at? What kind of cookies do you like? Do you have a dog? Who is your favorite historical figure? (Not counting Jesus) What is your favorite pastime? Do you watch TV or movies? I’m good at being a mom. I like chocolate chip cookies. Just made some the other day. I don’t have a dog, but I do have 4 cats. My favorite historical figure is Abraham Lincoln. My favorite past time is playing World of Warcraft, or cribbage. I don’t watch t.v. live, but I am currently into watching the past seasons of NCIS. I love books; I used to read Stephen King when I was younger, and I enjoyed Janet Evanovich. I would choose being buried alive to avoid the pain. I was never a fundy as described on this site, but I do enjoy the grace and wisdom that is on display.

    1. Thank you, boymom. Now see, Bison? Was that so difficult? (I think maybe bison went to graze elsewhere.)

    2. πŸ˜† That’s clever boymom, you made sure to copy and paste all those questions with your answers in the same box so that no one here will assume that you are crazy when they read all about you and wonder why you gave us a profile. lol

      1. Actually, I pasted it so I could remember what I was responding to, and I forgot to erase it before I posted. So now instead of being clever, or even crazy, I’m just senile.

    3. @boymom… This is off topic…so I’m totally being rude here and stalking your post. I see that your favorite historical figure is Abraham Lincoln. ME TOO! Infact, by next Friday or sooner I will be giving birth to two twin boys and I named the one Lincoln.(My husband named our other boy Benjamin….we couldn’t agree on names… πŸ˜‰ ) I believe Abraham Lincoln while not perfect is one of the greatest people that walked this earth!! No pressure on my son though! LOL!!

p.s. NCIS Rocks! I digress! (again)

      1. Sara, I wanted to name our son Lincoln too for the same reasons. We decided not to because the name didn’t work well with our last name, but it’s definitely a fav.

        1. Actually our last name is Continental.

No, not really. It’s more just the way the names sounded together, but I like your suggestions! lol

  4. While I am constantly on the lookout for the Zombie Apocalypseβ„’, it appears that the Troll Apocalypseβ„’ has begun.

    1. There have been several new trolls the last couple days, haven’t there? Trolls tend to go away if you don’t feed them, just like other stray animals.

      1. I know and I’m guilty of overfeeding them sometimes. But thay are just so darn cute at first. πŸ˜†

      2. I am sorry, I was attacked, πŸ˜₯ I think they were rabbid, they came at me out of no where. 😯 I wasn’t trying to feed them, πŸ™„ I didn’t think these strays were so cute, in fact, well the second one, that big cow charged at me, I was like 😯 he was snortting like them bulls do when they charge at ya, that wasn’t cute. πŸ™„

    2. The problem with the trolls, Scorp, much like zombies, is that they just keep coming. They all seem to think they are the original, that we’ve never heard these arguments before. That they are Right ™ and that if they speak loud enough often enough we will be Right ™ alongside them. I’m totally stealing this direct from cracked.com, about how we argue to win, not to seek truth:

“When they were shown proof that their conspiracy theory was wrong, did they back down? Did they get this look of realization on their face and say, “Wow … if this is untrue, then maybe the other ‘facts’ upon which I’ve based my fringe beliefs also aren’t true. Thank you, kind stranger, for helping me rethink my entire political philosophy!”

That has literally never happened in the history of human conversation. Whether it’s a politician whose point has been refuted or a conspiracy theorist who has been definitively proven insane, they will immediately shift to the next talking point or conspiracy theory that backs up their side, not even skipping a beat. They keep fighting to defend their position even after it is factually shown to be untrue.”

    3. How come the word Apocalypse has (TM) after it? Is that some kind of trade mark like somebody holds stocks in it? I wondered if the Apocalypse was some kind of scheme to bilk people out of all their money…hmm

      1. I love alt+0153. I can trademark anything I want.

        Monipennyβ„’ BAM! You’re trademarked. πŸ˜†

  5. Eek! I butted heads with the guy who made that video on YouTube and he is CRAZY. Like “Closing my account and making a new one because holy crap he is totally going to kill someone someday” crazy.

  6. Who else heard this guys refer to Elmo as a “Stupid A– right in front of his daughter? I mean, seriously?? 😯

  7. Wow. Yes, I’m a Christian, and no, I won’t let my teen stepdaughters read the trash of Twilight or the other vampire garbage, but it has more to do with the fact that I believe there’s way too much adult oriented content in the novels. I certainly see nothing wrong with my children reading Harry Potter…in my mind, it’s no different from the Wizard of Oz or Cinderella or other stuff we grew up reading. This guy is way overboard…getting that worked up over Elmo and books people are reading is just a distraction from what faith in Christ truly means. I can’t help but wonder if over zealous behavior over minor issues is just another method Satan uses to distract Christians from our true duty of loving others and caring for the people in this world. Dude’s off his rocker.

    1. I’ve read Twilight, and the reason it concerns me is because the main relationship in the story is terribly abusive. That is not what I want my daughters thinking an admirable relationship is like.

  8. 1:12 – “Should almost buy it, just to burn it.” Actually it doesn’t make any difference at all what you do with the books once you pay for them, as many as you want, go ahead and set them on fire in the front yard and dance around the blaze while urinating on them and singing hymns, the author gets the royalties just the same. 😈 πŸ˜›
And no, you can’t shoplift them instead, not even in the name of the LAWD. πŸ™„
