Let me tell you how bad it is–my grandfather is over six feet tall, and really quite fierce for an old man. Loving, but clearly quite strong. Yet whenever Grandma goes shopping, Grandpa knows better than to argue: his job is to stand outside the dressing room, holding her purse in the manliest way possible.
I never thought about it before, but my grandparents go to a fundy church. Yet Grandma gets away with such debaucheries as wearing pants, watching movies, reading “worldly” fiction, and having Catholic friends she doesn’t try to sneak a Chick Tract to every time they’re over. I wonder if that’s why…?
