  1. This video left me gaping. Seriously. And once I could speak, all I could say was “Whaaaa?!?!?” You could mine this kid’s YouTube channel for years.

And I’d bet money he’s not even holding a 1611 version of the KJV.

  2. @Jordan- I looked close. It’s a Thompson Chain Reference which I’m pretty sure uses Oxford’s 1769 edition.

I followed along with his argument, replacing “1611 King James Bible” with “English Standard Version” and it fit just the same.

That’s why I believe God has preserved his word for the English speaking people is the Old Fashioned 2001 ESV. My brothers and sisters, GOD has been using this text for the last TEN YEARS to bring sheep into His fold. It hasn’t changed, it hasn’t been shut down, they can’t stop selling these Bibles because God is using this blessed 2001 English Standard Bible to win poor lost souls for Christ. Amen? 🙂

  3. Yeesh. That was…interesting. Thanks for that, Darrell. I needed the laugh after these past two hours. :/

@Jordan: it wasn’t until my first year or two of Bible college that I learned that the KJV I’d grown up with was *not* the 1611.

  4. @A.P. Sullivan: what about those poor souls who waited until the 2005 revision to get an ESV? Are they doomed to hell?

  5. @ A.P. Sullivan–epic lols.

Ditto, Justin. This kind of blathering, mutton-headed nonsense can’t carry anyone very far in the real world. I see from just a little bit of Facebook detecting (remarkable what you can do with YouTube and Facebook these days), I see he’s got two years left of an economics degree at a public university in Ohio. A person like this can only 1) have his world collapse and apostatize, 2) retreat into himself and bully his way through to his diploma, or 3) drop out and retreat into a world that enables his ignorance.

  6. BTW it is copyrighted by the English crown; the USA simply does not recognize the monarchy’s copyrights (per treaty).

Does anyone think this guy would care?

  7. Wow I know it’s title “Incoherence”, but even that’s not enough warning for how incoherent this is. I’m curious if he thinks the Aramaic Jesus & apostles spoke, or the Greek it was written in was unpure? I really was thinking it had to be a parody till @JMP said his youtube channel was a gold mine.

  8. The 8th & 9th reasons are classic contradictions! 8th is that God is the translator of the Bible, and 9th seems to be that it was classic “men-o-gawd” that translated it. So sad to see people just blindly. I can’t watch his other reasons or any more from him at this time. Please God help him.

  9. W-O-W-zers.
Sounds like he has his sermon already prepared for a cowbell service.
In a few years I can see him preaching in a small rural church somewhere telling them what a waste higher education is when everything you will ever need to know is, “right here in this un-copyrighted, 1611 King James Bible.”

But I pity him, because it is painfully apparent that he is parroting what he is being told is truth. I’ve been there doing the very same thing, for the very same reasons. The kool-aid tastes great until the Lord opens your eyes and you see the swill you were drinking for what it really is.

  10. incoherent, unsubstantiated, untenable and irrelevant describes that postion best.

  11. You know, next year is the 400th anniversary of the KJV. It’s going to be a year-long PARTY!!!!

  12. Watched video #1 – ridiculous. His “proof text” is Psalm 12:6-7, which (as we know) has NOTHING to do with preserving the KJV!
It’s really sad for me, personally, b/c my brother and his wife are KJV-only, and they don’t understand how foolish it is.
I’ll just cling to my ESV and it’s 10 year history of being the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD! AMEN? (at least until I get my NIV study Bible)

  13. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Just found the VUVUZELA effect on youtube! I can’t believe how watchable he is w/ that turned on! It’s a shame the embedded version doesn’t have a vuvuzela feature! Excellent work @James

  14. And prior to 1611? Was there no inspired word of God? Did God just decide to wait until 1611 to inspire a written translation of His word?

Other than that…he’s got a good point 🙂

  15. @Kenya …and evidently God decided to give His Word to those in 1611 and onward and there will never be another inspired, preserved Word of God for the rest of human history…

  16. It’s funny, i graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a theology degree and until now, I thought that “a beka book” was the inspired word of God! Learn something new every day!

  17. What do ANY of those verses have to do with ‘proving’ the KJV is the only word of ‘Gahd?’

  18. Ok. As soon as I opened the link to this page, I laughed and cried inside. I saw the pic of the dude, and knew who it was right away. I happened upon this fella and this video on youtube awhile back. I think I tried to set the poor boy straight, but I don’t think he’s listened yet…
    I also agree with @Usedtobefundy

  19. @James. You rock man. The World Cup just saved us.
@Darren. Darn it. Why’d you have to remind me?? I’d forgotten that next year is the big 400! Glad I won’t have to stick around for that…

  20. SFL is always good for a laugh or at least a grin. Today I cried. If this had been some middle aged pulpit-pounder I would have been sitting here laughing into my morning coffee and praising God for getting me out of that nonsense. But this is just a kid! Other kids his age are out getting into mischief. How often do we see one like this who has this kind of fervor for God, twisted though it may be? Is he focusing that fervor on involving himself in the empty lives of his peers? Is he showing them in the words of that book he’s waving at the camera that God is love, is relevant to their world and has answers for real life? He probably doesn’t even realize himself the depth that book. He has been fed on empty hype about something that doesn’t matter and is untrue, and he feels important and powerful in spouting it on the internet in the manner of a preacher he probably idolizes…and is encouraged to idolize! This poor kid! Shame on preachers who pervert the young! Someone should be passing out the millstones and directing traffic to the diving board!

  21. kate,

if you look at some of his other videos, he makes it very clear that God hates sinners. no need to evangelize. they must come to Him on their own if they want His love.

otherwise, he does make SOME good points, but maybe he should switch his kjv 1611 with the original greek and hebrew transcripts. then maybe we’ll talk.

  22. has anyone watched the “God Loves Everybody??????” vid of his? It’s awful! It’s so sad to see Christians that believe that way.

He uses “for God so loved the world….” to say that God USED to love the world but because it’s past tense, he doesn’t love the world any more.

And how arrogant can you get to say “God loves me now because I’m born again.” ???

Honey if God didn’t love us, he would have said literally, “To hell with everyone!”

    1. I’ve heard it said that only God truly loves such bumblers, and even He finds it trying. 🙄

  23. Anyone pointed out the 13 scribal errors in the original KJV? Or that King James was a practicing homosexual? Or that the scribes should have translated baptizo into immersion but the fact that the church was practicing sprinkling, the translators “invented” the word baptism?

I like the point, was their no inspired Word before 1611…

  24. My Bible says that While we were still sinners Christ died for us. He did not do that because he hates us He did it because he LOVES us.

  25. Wouldn’t saying that the 1611 KJV Bible is the only perfect translation for the English-speaking world mean that you would have to make the assertion that we have learned nothing new about linguistics or classical Hebrew/Greek since 1611?

  26. I know this guy. I have spoke with him in the past (as a friend, and also as… not a friend.. I won’t say enemy). I was friends with him back when I was an IFB and did not think for myself. Then I saw a video of him with a guy named James Lyman (James the Preacher) who is well known for screaming and ranting at women for talking (they called this witnessing) and on the KJBO forum I was running at the time, had a huge argument with him and he went away sulking because noone agreed that James Lyman was a good preacher. And then he split up a church.

  27. People need to get over it. The KJV can be a stumbling block. This guy’s an arrogant jerk.

  28. Good catch, Bob. I also like the COPS t-shirt. “Bad boys, bad boys, what’cha gonna do, what’cha gonna do when they come for you… ?”

  29. @Jordan not only do Fundies say that we haven’t learned anything about the language or linguistics since 1611. They say we have LESSENED the authority of the greek text, by comparing it to greek text found in the dead sea scrolls and elsewhere. KJVO Fundies think the “Textus Receptus” is the plenary verbally inspired Word of God w/o a “jot or tittle” changed. You will be in rare company to hear a fundy talk about the “original autographs”, it’s Textus Receptus. As though the Apostles authored it in the 17th century, and then it was immediately translated in the “Authroized” process. It’s hard to get how headshake worthy the logic is.

  30. This is too good but really scary. Occasionally we teachers get students like this. It’s really hard to ta or teach a college intro class with some kid constantly spouting bizarre fundie arguments. Give him a year of Greek (not bible college Greek — ‘atheistic’ university Greek) and he’ll regret everything he just said in that video.

  31. Make it stop. This guy just doesn’t even know what he is talking about all the way around. Copyright? Yea would have been nice if A it was around at that time and B if in even the most expansive of copyrights would still be covered, but really what does it matter because if anything not having copyright hurts his point rather then makes it. If it were copyrighted then they could be guaranteed that no word has ever been changed. The fact that there is no copyright on it allows for any KJV publisher to change any minute thing they wish. Historic preservation is why you wouldn’t change anything in the text, not the lack of copyright. It is just absurd.

  32. “the sad part of this is that in a few years he’ll probably be an atheist”

    I’ve seen it happen.

  33. The actual KJV 1611 was copyrighted by the British government until the American Revolution.

  34. I didn’t realize Butters Stotch was such a staunch supporter of the Authorized 1611 KJV…
