I had these meaningful thoughts, but then I kept reading and it became too much. I’m going to have a cherry Lindemans Kreik Lambic. And cry.

    1. Maybe I should specify…I’m in Asia, hence it’s night: about 9:30pm, actually. I don’t normally start out my morning with a beer, even if there are fundies around.

      Whisky, on the other hand…

      1. Yay Asia! It is weird to check SFL right before bed when everyone else is getting up, isn’t it?

  2. LOL! Those “things” next to the “Flag” look like throwing darts with the Star of David on them. ๐Ÿ™„

    1. I guess that must be why they are described as the 7 “angles” in the description.

    2. I wonder why they formed them almost into an “echelon” formation (facing NW) instead of just stacking them in alignment? ๐Ÿ˜

I also find the “Baptist Preservation” icon comical. That website sure won’t help to preserve that kind of crazy. ๐Ÿ™„

      1. they explained the arrangement of the stars by saying that they are laid out in the geographical locations of the seven churches in Revelation.
See, it all makes perfect sense . . . ๐Ÿ™„

  3. From an English major perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed the section where they explain the Baptist Flag or whatever that thing is. Now where’s my red pen?

“The Seven stars are the seven angles to the seven churches.”
What kind of “angles”? Obtuse, no doubt.

You would think that, as strongly as they believe about all this stuff, they would take the trouble to proofread and make sure they’re not embarrassing themselves. On the other hand, if God cared about spelling, He would have spelled things right in the KJV, Haymen?

    1. Not only are there spelling errors, these errors have been there a LONG time. I get the impression from perusing the rest of the web page that they put this stuff together 15 or 20 years ago… maybe more.

      1. Well, 20 years ago would by 1992, and the WWW was just taking off.

Actually, this seems to have been done in 2007 or 2008… the church planting page has dates up to 2006.

    2. I too was wondering what kind of angles! Your answer is more appropriate for this site… ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. Where is the flag explained!? I want to see angles!

The web page was done with MS Frontpage 5.0, but there’s no date on it.

    4. Again with the education,…. Will you give it a rest already….. Blah blah blah… English major, blah blah blah .. Like I was telling my students the other day, blah blah blah everybody spells bad…… Enough woman…. Your giving me a headache x…. You must drive your Significant Other … Crazy!! ๐Ÿ˜†

        1. Playing off a girl…. Not a pretty sight Donny, but I gotta give you credit… You really are keeping that Temper in check, I’m proud of you…. Your type aren’t really known for their Self Control ๐Ÿ˜

        2. “Your type” is singular. “aren’t” is a plural verb. Try using “isn’t” there next time you think you’ are being clever.

      1. I believe you mean “spells badly”. Or maybe mistyped “smells bad”.

What students are you speaking with? (Poor souls) And I’m not a woman or an English teacher. Just someone who believes the Scripture teaches us to do our best and improve ourselves so that we can reflect Christ well.

        1. he is talking to me. Don’t feed him–I made that mistake long ago and he’s been following me ever since.

  4. oh and I love “contending for the Faith” in the pledge. Because the Christian life is all about contention. And strife. Lots of strife. Oh, wait . . .

    1. Of course! Fundy creed: Fight viciously for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints by {insert name of favorite famous fundy pastor}!

  5. It’s funny. Christians bashing other Christians. These people love to talk about our Christian heritage, but the Puritans were extremely religiously intolerant. They murdered the Quakers, and Roger Williams had to leave for Rhode Island. The Puritans were very critical of the Rhode Island experiment, and there is a history of nasty correspondence between Williams and the Mathers, spiritual leaders of the Puritans in Boston.

Change places, and these Baptist types would gladly love to whip others into submission. Look at the hysteria these people generate against the gays, the Moslems, and the “illegals.” Get onto other webpages such as Onenewsnow, and the attitudes are quite harsh and unfeeling. These types would gladly dish out what was dished to them in the past. The lack of introspective thinking is absolutely mindnumbing.

    1. I used to hear Mogs say that Baptists never persecuted anyone. That may be true technically but I think it is because they never had the opportunity. The desire certainly seems to be present.

      1. There are non-fundy Baptist churches. I attend one. Sure we tend to be the black sheep according to other Baptist churches in the area, but, nevertheless, it’s on the sign.

      2. Hmmmm … you have to be in power before you can persecute anyone. Some of the militant Baptists out there would love to have the opportunity.

    2. don’t even get me started on the Mathers . . . I studied Cotton’s writings last semester and they made me want to puke. The Mather family was manipulative, vindictive, and fond of scare tactics. And they constantly dangled the threat of God’s Judgement over their peoples’ heads. Much like some Mogs today.

  6. …at the right hand of the Father where He is the Head over His churches *uh-oh

We reject the concept of a universal, invisible church as it weakens the authority of the local churches and is unscriptural. *oy Landmarkers

The local Baptist church is to be made up of born again, scriptural baptized believers (Act 2:41) by being a proper candidate (A person who is capable of and having believing faith and is saved), proper mode (Deep Water for total body immersion) and by a properly authorized and ordained Baptist administrator, who are organized and authorized to carry out the works of the gospel ministry. The church is the house of God and is the pillar and ground of the truth, (1 Tim 3:15). We believe that the succession, perpetuity and continuity of the scriptural Baptist church can be traced back to Christ and His apostles (Eph 3:20-21). ** In other words: “We believe in the inspiration and absolute truth as found in the “Trail of Blood.”

The Lordโ€™s Supper is a scriptural local church ordinance that must be administered by a scriptural ordained Baptist minister and approached by saved, baptized members of that local church who are in good standing. *Only an ordained Baptist minister can administer the Lord’s Supper? Only those in “Good Standing” can participate? Rules added upon rules that have no basis in Scripture.
Combine this with the KJVO and you have the recipe for a CULT.

    On alcohol
The Lordโ€™s Supper consists of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine (non-alcoholic grape juice) (Matt 26:26-28). *non-alcoholic grape juice of course, as if we didn’t see that one coming.

    On Tithing
We believe the Scriptures teach that giving is one of the fundamentals of the faith; that God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; that tithing is a Bible principle, and that the storehouse for the tithe in this present age is the common treasury of the church; that we are under obligation to serve God with our time, talents, and material possessions; and are commanded to cheerfully, regularly, and liberally bring our tithes and offerings into the storehouse upon the first day of the week. We further believe that the tithe is a demonstration of our faith and witness that Jesus Christ our High Priest lives today and is at the right hand of the Father. (Heb 7:8) ** Money, money, money

We believe that pastors must be scripturally ordained to be able to administer the ordinances of baptism and the Lordโ€™s Supper. **You know, just like the Catholic priests, only Baptist Priests can marry their nuns. ๐Ÿ™„

Not to mention the KJV/God=America/Old Paths Church logo.

      1. yep-zee-doozers…
*sigh* Of course this was bound to happen with the whole IFB autonomy thingy. When there is no association, no accountability, no authority other than the M-O-g (local pope), then error is going to creep in, and it isn’t long before it takes over.

I’ll say it again, “When one is only accountable to God, they soon become the only god they are accountable to.”

        1. You’re right Don. These rogue churches need to come under accountability and authority. It’s a mess out there. Any yahoo can plant a church, and if he speaks well, smiles, preaches moralism (but does mention Jesus), and keeps his sin under wraps, he becomes an authority on Scripture and life. He then becomes untouchable because he is the MOG. He wields a lot of power with zero authority figures who can hold him accountable. It’s a sick system grounded upon a low view of man’s sin nature.

My anabaptist friends could learn a thing or two from the Presbyterians, Lutherans, and even Rome (IMO).

        2. Don you strike me as a wise person, and I think your little saying at the end is absolutely true. However, I would contend that an independent church can still have accountability within itself. A group of godly peers who will tell you the truth and some good elders and deacons who love the church usually do a fine job.

        3. FF–You are correct in that a group of peers or elders would be good for accountability. The problem with that is that most Fundy’s refuse to understand the true teaching of elders, and the majority of Fundy preachers do not see anyone in their church as a peer. It goes back to a wrong interpretation of Heb. 13:17 and 1 Thess. 5:12,13.

Because of this teaching, many deacon boards consist of rubber-stamp yes men.

        4. @Fundy Fascinated
It is not out of the realm of possibility that such a church could exist. I contend that it could not exist with the single pastor/ruler template. You are right, it would take a plurality of elders actively guarding against the “cult of personality” within their midst. Any church that is totally isolated from all others is, however, suspect.

        5. @Fundy Facinated
Just went back and reread your reply and had to chuckle, Me? wise? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ๐Ÿ˜†

        6. I’ve been in multiple REALLY good fundy churches. They definitely exist. You kind of have to be lucky & persistent, but they do exist.

    1. So let me get this straight. They reject the concept of the universal church and are careful to say “churches” to emphasize that point. However, when speaking of tithes, they say “…that the storehouse for the tithe in this present age is the common treasury of the church…” – so to which church does the tithe belong? And if that church sends some of that tithe money to another church or missionary or organization, have they then defiled the tithe?

Goodness, heresy complicates things so, doesn’t it.

  7. Is anyone else having trouble getting the site to load? Did they pull it already?

    1. I couldn’t get it to load either. I should probably be thankful for that.

  8. I think we should adopt this flag as the official SFL flag.

I pledge allegiance to the SFL flag
and to the snark for which it stands
One blog, one forum and one Dar-el
Contending for the funny until we get bored and wander off.

  9. Pledging allegiance to any flag (other than your country), to me, seems to be a bit of an idol worship.

  10. “If you have called upon Christ, please contact us and we will be glad to provide you with other helpful information.”

I volunteer to contact them and get this very helpful information. I assume its my new list of rules and dresscodes that will make me a “good Christian” (as opposed to a happy one, I guess). ๐Ÿ™„

  11. be sure to ask them to explain the theological significance of the Angles. Try to sound innocent and trusting.

  12. I pledge allegiance to the Baptist flag
and to the doctrine for which it stands.
One Lord, One Faith, One baptism.
Contending for the faith until Christ returns

    If I didn’t see it in print there I’d think my eyes were deceiving me. I just don’t know what to say other than GAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜ˆ ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ™ โ“

  13. Wow, just wow. That pledge is truly something else. “Contending for the faith” – at least they got the contentious part right.

  14. Dude, they’re in the UP! There’s probably only 4000 people who live there anyway – they must have about 6 people in that church

  15. When Paul said contending for the faith I think he ment contending to spread the faith. These guys contend to restrict and protect thier list of rules.

    1. Your talking to the wrong croud here Tlorz….they be reformed- Catholics here…. No spreading of their faith beyond the “elect” …. just get saved through the witness of a fundy…. Then justify all manner of bad behavior….. Then leave the fundys….. Then bash the fundys…… Then live happily in your sin( that is till you die)…., and oh yea….. Feel bad…. Feel very very bad, for your poor sap neighbors who are not Chosen as you were, BUT don’t dare speak a word to them about their condition….. I guess being reform types kind of comes natural when one has no backbone. ๐Ÿ™

      1. Is it just me or does anyone else hear that annoying whining sound? Must be some glitch that has gotten into the site.

        1. It would be a lot easier to just repent Donald, really…. What’s keeping your type from doing right… I know you like your liquor, gluttony, immoral behavior….but are those vices really worth it ๐Ÿ˜ณ

        2. Dante,
You are the poster child for cognative dissonance. You love to call the tune but you will not dance. You fancy yourself as a wit, and a debater. You are neither. There is no conversation with you nor debate for you are an idiot: A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers.
You have come to SFL and have been itching for a fight, well here it is.

Your defense of Christ and all things Christian rings hollow. Like a toddler who wants his way all you know is to harp on Calvinism. You think that by labeling something Calvinist you have won the argument. If you have a learning disability or you are mentally challenged then you should not be on the computer without proper supervision.

So now you can whine all you want about how mean Calvinists are and how I prove your point. You are like the moron who kicks a bees nest then complains about getting stung. You bring it on yourself. If you want to debate and actually discuss the issues without your playground tactics you are welcome to comment on my blog (you can get there by clicking on my name) or you can join the forum and participate with the adults. This disjointed crap you are posting is getting really, really anoying and it makes you look immature and or mentally handicapped. So grow up or shut-up.

        3. Donald, why would you assume that I am looking for a “fight”, simply for disagreeing with you. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend..”, ๐Ÿ˜ฅ are you so in need of others to stand with you in your anger and bitterness that any contrary voice sends you off so. By your own word, you were indeed offended by these independent baptist folks…. Yea Hurt…. My protest is your use of the Saviour’s Name as the reason for your venomous attacks, especially using scripture so lightly as a comical backdrop for your tirades. Please consider this, don’t pretend your defending anything or anyone higher than yourself ….. Donald was hurt…. Donald will now hurt others as retribution….all in the name of DONALD….. Period…..just be honest sir ๐Ÿ˜

        4. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend”. *I do not think that phrase means what you think it means.*

Name-calling others, and generally trying to make yourself feel good by doing so, has more to do with your warped sense of self-worth than it does with actually trying to help show someone they are wrong.

Don, I was thinking less of Dante kicking the nest but rather inserting something…

        5. Dante you are an ignorant bore.
You speak of things you know nothing about. You perceive Grace, love, compassion, and caring about as much as a spoon perceives the taste of food. You came on here with an agenda to defend IFB error and the pulpiteers and con artist who have built the IFB Cult making it the religious concentration camp it is today.
You have no idea of what it is to be manipulated, and abused at the hands of these religious goons. Futhermore, you have no compassion for those who have been scarred by such treatment. I suspect you may actually be one of the abusers with your approach to the subject.
Additionally you come on here with an air of super-spirituality, as if you all all that. You declare that you believe the majority of responders on here are not saved. You arrogant prig! Who are you to make that judgment? Just Who do you think you are?

Like I have said when you want to join the adults in discussion you can either post on my blog or join the forum but stop with the poison pen crap out here.

        6. @C_Fresh
It’s so far in there now I don’t think george could even extract it at this point. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

        7. Again Donald, you were hurt, that much is painfully obvious….. However, you have no excuse to behave in this manner. I am only Disagreeing with you, I truly believe you to be in great error. ๐Ÿ™ Your words are extremely vicious, your temper is completely out of your control, your language is filthy, and again ….your use of Scripture in such a vindictive and crude fashion is blasphemy. Furthermore your testimony of salvation starts with the very folks you seek to destroy….. You show absolutely no fruits of election ๐Ÿ™ …….What is there to say?…. These “atta boys” by these, your blog pals, are biblical “kisses” of enemies….. My wounds are intended in Love ๐Ÿ˜

        8. Dante, someday you may look back on this time of your life with utter shame and embarassment at the things you have done. Coming here looking for a fight will probably be among the things you will one day regret. At least I hope so. For your own soul’s sake. You are not acting in the slightest like a Christian acts, whether it be from divine election, or from your own personal choice, a Christian would not act the way you are acting here. Your *testimony* is positively ruined. Here at least. Go peddle your snake oil somewhere else.

        9. Sim…. Your reasoning is dizzying …… I’m flabbergasted at your hypocrisy …..dishonesty is not……. Oh forget it…..unbelievable ๐Ÿ˜ณ

        10. Furthermore your testimony of salvation starts with the very folks you seek to destroyโ€ฆ..

Then you have absolutely no concept of Soteriology, what Salvation is or where it comes from. Salvation begins and ends with Christ and Christ alone. My salvation has nothing to do with the IFB cult which I was a part of. My salvation has everything to do with the finished work of Jesus Christ who is the propitiation for our sins. So, once again, you show a marked penchant for error regarding Christian theology and the works of man.

        11. Donald is a follower of John Calvin, that much has been quite painfully established…however I find you’re five points to be libel against The Lord….you still seek to destroy those who Brought you the Words of Life……..I just can’t help but wonder…..why doesn’t he praise those whose feet brought him the gospel…. And still disagree…… Without the intense hatred ๐Ÿ˜ณ

        12. When you find yourself in a hole Dante, you should stop digging.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Yet, you insist on charting a course of words and action declaring to the world you are a sancitmonious prig of the first degree.

Just because you reject the Doctrines of Grace (found throughout scripture) and just because you reject the Sovereignty of God (in favor of a god you have control over) and just becaue you believe you win the argument by labling what you don’t like or don’t understand as “CALVINIST”, does not make it so.

You are quickly becoming an object of pity rather than merely an irrelevant troll. You cannot be reasoned with and that is most pitiful of all.

        13. Conversely Donald, when someone has gotten to the point of having to tell another that they are pitied, it’s pretty obvious who has all, feeling sorry for him. You have been hurt…and will kick and scream until you have had your way. Insulting all who simply protest your unreasonable behavior. You connot continue in this way, accusing all who disagree as ” not knowing what they are talking about”……. Your “doctrines of grace” are Calvin’s doctrines …… Not True Biblical Doctrines of Grace…. and so are irrelevant to A Bible Believing Christian, and you yourself said you would Die a calvinist….. That was your tag…. And lastly I cannot be “reasoned with” because I find your adherence to a man’s philosophy to be cult like, and void of discernment. It comes down to this Donald, your Angry about the past….I’m challenging you about you Heart in the present, and this infuriates you…. You are completely Overtaken in this fault ( hatred for the brethren )…. And I only seek to restore you….. If you have indeed received Jesus Christ as your Saviour back then…. If not…. Then this conversation needs to take a Very sharp turn indeed ๐Ÿ˜

        14. Again you don’t know what you are talking about. Where did you come up with, “and you yourself said you would Die a calvinist.” Now that’s just plain making stuff up. The act of someone desperate to make a point when they have already lost the argument.

You have no conception of Biblical grace as you continue to demonstrate with your incessant campaign against Calvinism. And your sanctimonious, “Iโ€™m challenging you about you Heart in the present, and this infuriates youโ€ฆ. You are completely Overtaken in this fault ( hatred for the brethren )โ€ฆ. And I only seek to restore youโ€ฆ.. If you have indeed received Jesus Christ as your Saviour back thenโ€ฆ. If notโ€ฆ. Then this conversation needs to take a Very sharp turn indeed” is a masterpiece of passive/agressive diatribe.

I can tell you without reservation that what you are engaging in here is not a challenge to me at all. You think too highly of yourself if you believe your error, your contempt and your lack of compassion, love and grace is in any way, shape form or fashion a compelling example of Christ like behavior. And that is most pitiful.

        1. Oh come on now…..we don’t all have to agree all the time … Do we ๐Ÿ˜‰ ….don’t you want even one decenting voice? some one has to be honest with you,how else are you going to get right ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

        2. Decent (n) means being a fair minded & well behaved.

dissent (v) means objecting or speaking out against.

        3. Your local community college offers cheap remedial English & grammar. No one respects an adult who can’t do basic spelling & grammar, babe.

        4. Bobby,How about an adult who has no substantial contribution besides grammar correction

        5. Actually I think decent is most commonly an (adj), not (n). A bit early, but I’m thinking you can use it as a noun, I just can think of an example. Definitely not a verb though.

        6. I got plenty to contribute, but your grammar is atrocious, and needs to be corrected very very badly. Think of it as a favor.

        7. Sorry Bobby, but I only hear a pup…. Looking for approval….from the rest in his litter ๐Ÿ˜ฅ A little decent, dissent …. Would be very much appreciated ๐Ÿ˜•

        8. The problem is that your message gets lost in the jumble of your words. If no one can understand what you’re trying to say, then you’re really wasting your energy saying it.

Improving your grammar and spelling isn’t a matter of getting OCD people off your back (although it would) but also a matter of getting your message out more clearly. It’s something to consider.

        9. Approval is irrelevant. If you want me to respect what you have to say, you need to respect the english language. I could understand if it wasn’t your native tongue, but I see no indication that english is your second language.

        10. Your “encouragement” to improve my communication skills rings hollow, if you don’t mind my saying. I find it very hard to believe that those who are so insanely vicious in past comments towards those they disagree, could find a kind word for the same. I realize your belief structure of reformed theology teaches you to deny the literal interpretation whenever possible….. but I really don’t understand why your type needs an excuse anyway. Calvinists, reformed types, emergents….. What ever your tag…. You have engaged in unrestrained immoral behavior, and blasphemous attitudes and comments when ever it suits you….. So why use the name of Jesus Christ?? Just go Eat…. Drink…. and be Merry….. Why tarnish his glorious name so? ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

        11. There’s a first for everything, vicious is very much a first, and completely disassociated with my actual comments.

Also if you’d actually read any of my comments you’d realize I don’t even buy the Total Depravity part of TULIP let alone the rest of it. If anything you’d classify me as a free wheel fairy.

I’ll add not actually reading comments before trying to sum them up to your list of tricks.

        12. Bobby, I will ask you to read Fully my comment…. Then let me know if you feel you’re response was founded and appropriate ๐Ÿ˜ณ

        13. your, not you’re. Basic grammar, let’s try a little harder at it.

Its still completely appropriate. I’m the furthest thing from reformed or a Calvinist there is. Also not emergent or whatever words you’ve heard someone say but don’t understand.

      2. I still haven’t decided if Dante is for real or not. But it’s sad he doesn’t seem to know any actual reformed people.

        1. I don’t think it’s for real. Some regular contributor gets bored every once in awhile.

        2. Too bad he’s using a perfectly good handle. “Dante” should not be wasted on this meaningless gibberish.

        3. Oh…..it’s for real alright….but as far as gibberish goes…if you always must attack those who live in such a way as to make you feel guilty… Perhaps your going about life in the wrong manner……. Repent? Possibly…. ๐Ÿ˜

        4. I’ve finally read through all your arguments on this thread. I still don’t know for sure that you’re for real, but I do have two questions.

          1. What part of your theology, where in your reading of Scripture, do you find the justification for assuming that everyone who disagrees with you (even if it’s just over grammar) is “living in a manner for which they should feel guilty” or “engaging in unrestrained immoral behavior?” How does your reading of, say I Cor 13, justify your assumption of evil behavior from every person who calls himself a Calvinist, reformed or emergent?

          2. You have yet to state any concrete, Scriptural objects to anyone’s theology. You have made many assumptions. You have attacked the way Don uses Scripture as “Calvinist” without actually explaining what is unbiblical about it, or how Scripture ought to be used. Have you ever talkedโ€“rationally and without argumentโ€“with anyone holding a theological view other than your own? If so, what is your Biblical objection to posters here? Simply cyber-yelling at us to repent is silly, and no rational person will respond to it. You’re asking us to simply agree with you. We won’t. We want to agree with Christ. Show me how you have Christ and His Word on your side, and I’ll be on your side, too. I think that’s what Don was doing by inviting you to come to his blog and discuss these things. We should all be open to correction. You want us to accept your words as “the wounds of a friend.” But unless your opinions are backed up with God’s Word, they are not that of a friend.

  16. By this shall all men know that we are His disciples, if we constantly create (and $$sell$$) new baptist flags because all the others aren’t “separated” enough.

Can’t wait to see the post for the next baptist flag!

    1. have you ever had the colors of the baptist flag explained to you? I have!
“Red for the blood of martyrs.” Most of whom were not Baptist but we’ll just pretend they are for the sake of the flag.
I think the next Baptist flag should be made in the shape of culottes, hung sideways to resemble the pennant-shaped flag of Nepal.

      1. GAH!!! Don’t say that. Someone will take you seriously.

I took a look at the site and it scares me. Really, truly scares me.

      2. *** Sings:
Red – the blood of angry men!
Black – the dark of ages past!
Red – a world about to dawn!
Black – the night that ends at last!***

  17. Wow. They really take tent-making seriously. Makes me think of ol’ P.T. There really is a sucker born every minute.

Most likely with a mog there to try and reel them in and count them under the Banner.

  18. Ok, now I’m rested and can talk about this…THING.

And I’m only looking at their flag description. I’ll say first that it’s a horrible design for a flag, which is always best simple and clear. Then I’ll agree with D’s initial analysis…it is pretty breathtaking that they reject Baptist flags and make their own. After that, I shall attempt to translate:

Baptist on the banner represent those (mythical) ancient people from the time of Christ that have been faithful to the doctrines of Christ down through the ages (and who disappeared from history right about the time Acts ends, only to reappear about a 1,500 years later)

The two lions represent the ordinances of the church (because it’s the ordinances in which we trust). Baptism and the Lords Supper.

These try the faith of some (who actually believe in faith alone in Christ alone by grace alone for salvation) Baptism makes one a member of a scriptural Baptist church (instead of all that silliness about being symbolic of your joining Christ in his death and resurrection), and the table is the perpetual ordinance of the kingdom of Christ. We must be worthy to approach the table and by this we continually remain the executors of the New Testament, (because it is by our works we are saved. God doesn’t want us till we’re worthy.)

The shield represents the faith of the Baptist of antiquity, (as it is being Baptist, not the Word that is our defense).

The scripture on the shield is Luke 22:29-30 This scripture is when the church was established as the executor of the New Testament and the continuation of the visible kingdom of Christ on earth.

Luk 22:29-30 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; (30) That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

(But these have absolutely no parallels to Exodus 24:8-11 or anything else)

The lower banner states the following: ” Kingdom -Church – Body of Christ” Meaning that the body of Christ is the assembly of scripturally baptized believers which we call the visible church, (which apparently once you’re dead you are no longer a part of.) The church is the visible kingdom of Christ on earth with all authority of heaven to prepare for His return, (because that’s what Jesus actually meant when He said HE had all authority and that He would present His Church glorious and without spot to God the Father.)

The words below the lower banner state: One Lord – One Faith – One Baptism.

The Seven stars are the seven angles to the seven (Baptist) churches, (except maybe the ones that Jesus really condemned, which were probably leaving the Old Paths already.) The candlestick in each star on the flag represent the literal seven churches of Asia as found in the Revelation, (because these are absolutely essential to faith, and the correct interpretation of them is so important it deserves a place on our flag with baptism and faith).

These stars are positioned accordingly as they appear on a map. The star of David reminds us that our Lord Jesus Christ was a Jew, (because that, too, is totally essential information we need to be visually reminded of daily, even though we have nothing to do with the Old Testament Israel, and also haven’t actually had anything to say about His life, death or resurrection. But His ethnicity is vital information to faith.)

The church was established by Christ during his earthly ministry. We as gentiles are grafted into them meaning the church because some not all of the unbelieving Jews were broken off, (but we’re not real sure what happened, just as we aren’t sure how to use comments or antecedents.) The grafting process is accomplished through Johns baptism, (which was strangely administered to a bunch of Jews…)

I pledge allegiance to the Baptist flag
and to the doctrine for which it stands, (the Baptist distinctives).
One Lord, One Faith, One baptism.
Contending for the faith until Christ returns, (to give me my big fat reward that I earned all by myself.)

  19. Interesting to note on their “Baptist Doctrine Q&A” page they have pictures of how they do Communion. They have tables set up in the basement and at every place there is a glass of Welch’s. I thought all Baptists knew the correct way to do Communion was just the way Jesus did it- hiding it under a white sheet at the front of the church.

  20. That sentence is continued in the next verse: “One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and father of all.” (Ephesians 4:5-6)
Of course they can’t include that part, because that would mean God is father of ALL, not just a select few.

  21. They’ve rejected the Baptist Flag and the Baptist Standard, so now they have a non-standard standard.

  22. You know, when I went to my crazy IFB schools in the late 1980s, they were happy to have a Christian flag to salute (I didn’t care.) Now we have two competing Baptist flags and a standard that looks like a firefighter’s flag. The movement is splintering even more than it was twenty years ago, and man am I glad I am not part of it.

  23. How awesome is it that the name of their website has the word “sins” in it?

    the Admiral

    1. It also has ‘hurc’ and ‘urch’, two possible noises that reading through the website might induce.
