You struggle over whether or not to take a secular online course from a religious school because...well, they believe differently...

Separation still dogs me.

You might be an ex-Fundy if you have ever heard a woman called a Heifer.

[quote]

I've heard this several times. One time he even justified it by quoting Samson: "if ye had not plowed with my heifer..." Basically the point was that the wife was not in subjection to her husband, so it was OK to call her that.

I'll bet my husband could think of half a dozen dirty jokes for that one verse ...

Sorry - I don't have enough time to read the way it is. A book about fundies isn't going to make my reading stack.

Just my opinion: every single line in my book does not reflect the idiosyncracies of fundyland. Just like a fundy, you're judging something before you get all the facts.

I'm a writer, and I hope you'll hear what I have to say: It's hard to judge your own work. When a reader gives you feedback, take it seriously. Even if it is painful, offensive, or hurtful, listen to it. Ponder it. Sleep on it. Mull it over. More often than not, the reader is right.

You are too close to your "baby," and you are almost always going to feel like it's perfect just as it is. Other people will see its flaws and misbehaviors. Let their criticism help you reshape and rework it into true perfection.

Best of luck to you in your endeavors!

If your family has been stalking you for three years until you have to change your number and block all of them on your social media and they still contact you on linkedin to tell you how many people you need to apologize to before they'll let you back in the family. That's how you know you used to be fundy...

I'm so sorry they are being so horrible on top of horrible. Sad ((hugs))

Being stalked has to be one of the few things that is worse than being completely cut off.

Thanks,
I never thought of it that way before, but it's truly horrible! I'm always happier when they just leave me alone!!

I never was a full on fundy... but the word "culottes" does make me feel a bit nauseous.

I do want to thank Bob M publicly for removing his comment about me. I do appreciate it! It was a kind thing to do, especially so quickly after I mentioned it bothered me. I will not make any derogatory comments about anyone's genitalia here, ever. Big Grin Let's keep it sex-positive and body-positive!
