Broadcast Facebook message I just received.
I just checked my email, and I saw this in there. I'm copying and pasting straight from it with no edits (I took out the person's name on the bottom, that's it).

RE: Broadcast Facebook message I just received.
I'm telling you, and this seems to be all I ever say these days - all this talk is typical of anyone associated with Way of the Master/Ray Comfort/Kirk Cameron/Todd Friel/Wretched Radio. It's almost word for word. Fear tactics.
It's not only works sanctification, it's works salvation, and morbid introspection on whether you measure up to the righteousness of the law. This person will crush under the weight of their own depression if they don't find the liberty that is in Christ. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; - Titus 2:11-12 |

Quote:If you comment on this and try and tell me that I am being self-righteous then I will know that this has bothered you because like it is said “when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs the one that yelps the loudest is the one that got hit”. Or, maybe, he is just being self righteous, since that email didn't really offend me at all. I used to send them. I know the thoughts he is having. And he will justify his self righteousness by calling it "righteous indignation". But it's all about him. He doesn't really care about Jesus. He just cares about whether he is good enough to be accepted, and since he has to work for his acceptance, everybody else better dang well too and they'll hear about how awesomely convicted he is. Actually, there is not even any good news in there at all. If he loves Jesus so much, how come he hasn't mentioned the core of the gospel - his sins are gone through the blood of Christ, and Christ is now his life. Edit: Changed avatar temporarily... certain people who live near me will probably be able to identify me from my old one (that sounds odd, since I'm not in it). I'll change it again soon (Also, my PC is an AMD Quad Core beast). RE: Broadcast Facebook message I just received.
Actually, it has made me angry. Not offended, but angry, because according to this, a Christian is simply a person who lives a morally acceptable life and is accepted by God on the basis of their works. Sooo frustrating, because I know he'll get enough positive response to this to reinforce his "I'm gonna be so accepted by God because I am gonna try my best" mentality. Even if one person clicks "like", it'll be enough to reinforce what he wrote here. Terrible shame.

RE: Broadcast Facebook message I just received.
Upon further thought, it sounds like they just got off from listening to "Shocking Youth Message" and decided that telling all their friends to get right with God would make them right with God too.

You know, exIFB, I have struggled my whole life with bad depression. Things have been tougher than normal lately but without the depression. I wasn't sure why since I had to get off my meds because I'm pregnant. Maybe you are on to something here, because I've felt more at peace and not depressed. Maybe the fundies are right, maybe depression is a spiritual problem, just not the kind tht they think... |

Good way of putting it...I hadn't thought of it in that light before. "Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. That is the fundie preemptive defense. If you don't agree with me then YOU have the problem. Why doesn't he/she just come out and be truthful?
