I have had a Cambridge Bible before that was similar. I didn't mind it.

Also, the Bible I currently use is one of those ESV's with a single column on every page. I like it because it's different, but it's just a preference. Smile

What, no Red Letters for the words of Christ? SINNERS! Angry

I currently use a Cambridge wide-margin KJV French Morocco leather Bible, and I initially hated the fact that the words of Christ weren't in red.

Yeah, not having the red letters in other translations still feels weird. Undecided

And then there's the Green Letter Bible... but that's for another thread. Trippy.

Maybe you guys can help me out...

I have been told that the KJV is the only version based on the TR (and yes, I am well aware of the Geneva, Bishops, Easter, etc, etc). I guess I should say, I have been told that the KJV is the most recent version based on the TR.

Are there more recent versions based on the TR? Honestly, what I really would like is a version that uses up-to-date verbage but is based in the TR rather than W+H.

The NKJV and KJV21 are two examples of 20th century translations that use the Textus Receptus. The person who told you that the KJV is the most recent is a liar.

I ought to get one of those. I like Bibles that have the verses written out in paragraph style like a real book; it makes it easier to read the whole context instead of just a snippet of a verse here or there. Also putting two columns on a page, while it does save space, reminds me of textbooks.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

It is nice. They have several covers for them. I assume you could probably find one in that format in another version...surely crossway isn't the only one who has thought of it.

RE: 21st Century King James Version
When I'm in the mood for an older translation (or I don't have a hard-copy Bible on me), I like using Webster's Bible. Noah Webster did some updating to the AV back in the day and made updates based on grammar changes, etc. There's not a lot of difference between it and the AV but they're there.

What??? That makes sense!! I have an old Bible from the late 1800's and there's minor differences to my KJV. I couldn't figure out why.

It doesn't say "Webster" but it might be a pirated edition. I'll have to check when I get home.

Wikipedia has a little write-up about the version.

The NKJ is based on the TR.
