And he accused us of acting like 2nd graders? *snort* Poor kid thinks he knows it all, and to be honest, how many of us haven't been there too. Maybe, hopefully, he'll grow up soon. We can pray to that end for him, now that we know him a bit.

That "quote" is supposed to be exIFB's Facebook snapshot above.

Which I meant to delete, but only deleted my comment by mistake, because it wasn't about Cody, but one of the other people in there, but I think I might show the person privately... Oh well Tongue

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; - Titus 2:11-12

Cody, you'll probably read this. Chill man. What I'm about to say isn't directed at you. Well, it is, but also every other fundamentalist out there.

The above quote summarizes pretty much everything that is wrong with fundamentalism.

1) You can bash me all you want - in other words, I don't care what anyone thinks, as long as I am assured, and in fact, your "bashing" will only reinforce my position

2) I'm a saved sinner. No, you were a sinner, now you are a saved saint. Your sins are forgiven, you are no longer a sinner in standing and God never once calls a saved believer a "sinner" but saints, kings, priests, redeemed, precious, chosen, etc etc It's not humble to call yourself something that God removed you from.

3) Trying my best - your best isn't good enough. It isn't today and it never will be. Jesus best was more than enough, and His life in us is all we need (Col 3:4, Titus 2:12). The problem with IFB's is that they hinder God's work by trying too hard to do it.

Anyway, that isn't directed at Cody, but that excerpt really hit a nerve with me, because it kept me under bondage for years, constantly "trying my best" to serve God and never believing I was accepted by God because I could always do more.

Excellent post! I agree with everything except that we are “kings and priests”. Otherwise, outstanding observation exIFB! Cool
