Thats what I said, "Good for you!". You don't have to do anything that you don't want to do. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. Heart

That idiot Cody has started several such questions on facebook, and even sent a message on facebook to a friend of ours that voted that it was just a good translation, trying to pick a fight with him. Cody doesn't even know the guy. The guy told him twice that he wasn't interested in discussing it or fighting about it but Cody is tenacious.

His facebook page is also full of admiring female teenage fans that worship the ground he walks on and all would love to be his girlfriend. He loves the attention he gets from that and doesn't try to stop them. He's just a Ruckmanite pretty boy. I honestly think he's striving to be the next Ruckman.

The issue is one of legalism and force. If you believe it, great, but don't just run around screaming "God said I gotta live by every word so bless Gawd I better have every word in my old KJV" etc etc (not saying you do that). Read it, learn from it. Personally, I think it is better to read one version than many.

Here is a question that I never got an answer for.

Which of these is preserved and why?

for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13 NIV
for whoseveer shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved Romans 10:13 KJV

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 NIV
for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23 KJV

As a baptist, I would say that the KJV translation was perfect, whereas the NIV was not preserved. But they are nearly identical. This is where I would get into all kinds of knots saying stuff like "the NIV contains parts of the word of God, but the KJV is all the word of God", and make up teachings like that.

Anyway, I have no problem with the KJV and like I said, I use it and believe it to be the most trustworthy translation, and possibly/probably without error (hence preserved). I just can't bring myself to cast judgment upon people who don't agree with me anymore (and once again, I am not implying you do, I love your posts Smile )

I think the KJV is a fine translation but there are a few probems.

"Lucifer" is Latin, so why does an early english translation of an ancient Hebrew text have a latin word in it, kinda makes ya wonder. Real quick if I can. The name lucifer came to us via Jerome's Latin Vulgate, by the time the KJV translators came along, calling Satan Lucifer was very popular, so the KJV translators caved to public opinion and let it ride knowing full well that it wasn't the proper translation of "heylel" which was the Hebrew word, which means morning star or day star, most new versions have the correct translation of "heylel" and guess what? The KJV translators were aware of it, how do I know, I found a 1611 KJV and right there in the margin at Is 14:12 or daye starre.

A fine ol translation, yes. Perfect? don't think so.

Lol is this Cody's? I'm sure he was surprised to see mine where it was, especially since I didn't leave any explanation.

RE: facebook quiz - inspiration of kjv 1611.
Trying to explain how the Bible is given by inspiration is one of those complicated subjects (which I disagree with most people on, including IFBs), so I'm not even going to go there... but....

I don't believe that the KJV is just the "best translation" in English, I believe that it is pure and perfect.

Unlike many KJVO people, though, I do believe there are perfect translations in a few other languages. I know for sure that there is one in Spanish.

If you have faith in a perfect God, then I don't understand why you can't have faith that He could give us His perfect words in one Book. I'm not KJVO because it was taught to me as a child, but because it is the only thing that makes sense to me after thinking through this topic for myself.

I'm also more dispensational than most Fundies. I believe that the books that directly apply to us right now are the Pauline epistles. We can learn spiritual and practical truths from the other books of the Bible, but we can't always apply them doctrinally to our lives today.

Wow, took the time to peruse his wall, racial slurs, references to movies such as Anchorman, posts about being KJV only and things about Ruckman. Not even a good fundy is he?

Yeah, this always confuses me with fundy walls. Always going on about worldliness, and then it's like "fave TV show is two and a half men".

What?

I mean, if you like the show, whatever, but don't go on about worldliness and then watch a show that is the epitome of it...

This drives me crazy too! Under favorite music, they'd have "Majesty Music" or "Sound Forth" or Beethoven, but under favorite TV shows they'd have all sorts of "worldly" stuff. I don't mind if those are their actual preferences, but they're being hypocritical if they accuse other Christians of being worldly because they listen to Praise and Worship music. They enjoy their Christian liberty in television, but try to deny others Christian liberty in music.

BTW, since fb changed the profile pages, can TV, music, and movie preferences even be seen anymore?

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.
