Convo regarding Steven Anderson between fb friend and I
I feel like banging my head against the wall. UGH!!!

Me: Anderson presents a spirit of hatred... Christianity should be about showing a spirit of love toward others, not disdain

FB Friend: dearest of all my friends if you think that Christianity is all about love then you’re sadly mistaking. There’s a season to love and a season to hate, a season for peace and a s Ineason of war. If you think I’m here to show just love then again you’re mistaking. Just as I share the gospel with others I’m not just going to show them one side; no it’s the whole thing or nothing! In this case I feel justified show other Christians the kind of heresy this man brings.

Me: I know there is a season for everything, a season to love/hate, a season for peace/war. I never said to show one thing without the other; by all means, present both sides. But what Anderson presents is something different. He's dangerous to Christianity. He's more likely to steer people away from it instead of to it.

FB Friend: in that case I’m a danger to Christianity as well. I am speaking for Pastor Anderson that his not what everyone things he is. He’s very outspoken and says things that most Christians are afraid to say that’s all.

Me: maybe I should have instead said he's a danger to people who are spiritually fragile. Sure, he knows the Bible. But he twists scriptures to mean things they don't. (speaking against children's church and bible college for one thing; i mean, really? Just because something isn't in the Bible, that doesn't mean it's evil. That's why we, as Christians, need to use Godly discernment to figure out what's right and what isn't)

FB Friend: Can’t argue with those numbers. However there will be people who listen and those that will not just because they’re spiritually fragile that doesn’t mean we should be preaching to them a soft prosperity message. Unfortunately I just don’t think that’s the way to go.

Me: And that kind of thing, scripture twisting, is very dangerous to people who don't know their Bibles...

FB Friend: In that case there isn’t anything we can’t do. If they chose not to listen or be ignorant what can we do? I understand that not everyone knows their scriptures or hasn’t have a clue on who jesus is but when you present the gospel and they choose not to accepted there’s nothing we can do to change their minds.

Me: I wasn't talkign about people who choose not to accept the Bible. I was talking about people who didn't know their Bibles very well but wanted to. They could be easily taken in and mislead

FB Friend: Agree 1000% with you its like if I didn’t know anyting about the bible and Joel Osteen came and tried to preach the “gospel” I wouldn’t know better. The individual has to see what he/she is getting themselves into.

Me: That's exactly why it's good to know your Bible so you'd know when something is wrong. And I sense that with Anderson. (my only credentials are a thorough reading of the Bible, trusted commentaries, female intuition, and the minor in Biblical Studies I earned at Biola)

FB Friend: Ok can you tell me what seems to be off with Pastor Anderson? I don’t have a biblical degree nor am I as smart as you but I would like to know in your point of view seems to be wrong with him?

No kidding. Especially since I was doing my best to be nice about it (although I got kind of snarky toward the end).

I emailed with someone back and forth recently over something they said on their website. At the end, they basically said I was unsaved not because I failed to believe the gospel but because I did not believe all of these particular extra things like they did. Your fb friend seems better than that, but it's funny and disturbing when you want to believe you're talking to a rational person but all of the evidence seems to be against it.

I HATE when people say, "Tell me exactly what that person said yada yada yada".

That person kept making me think of how the followers of Jim Jones sounded.

He says that Stephen Anderson says things that other Christians are afraid to say. But sometimes fear can be a good thing.

I will not pick up a rattlesnake by the tail because I am afraid of getting bit.

Maybe if Stephen Anderson was a little more afraid he would not spew out such poison

Ughhh........sometimes it's just not worth the debate. Some people choose to be willfully ignorant.
I don't have any experience with Steve A himself, but I keep up with his wife's blog, and from what I see on there, it seems the two of them use the Bible as an extra supplement to their own personal version of Christianity. The Bible is definitely NOT their "ONLY rule for faith and practice...."

Christians, we're all afraid of fire,
We prefer to suck on pacifiers -
Baby pacifists, we're throwin' fits.
We don't shake hands, we shake our fists!
We're cannibals, we watch our brothers fall -
We eat our own, the bones - and all!

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; - Titus 2:11-12
