"I Want to Marry Daddy When I Grow Up"

For some reason this song was stuck in my head and it completely creeps me out. As a father of 3 girls, I can categorically say with no hesitation that my girls will NEVER hear or sing this song as long as I have breath. Way too creepy!

My husband literally did not believe me when I first told him about this song. I had to get my siblings to back me up that it existed. He was floored.

Creepy beyond words. Anyone who would think that is cute is disturbed or has such incredible fundy blinders on they think any kid's song written by Patch is great. And that's disturbing by itself.

I walk with bare, hushed feet the ground Ye tread with boldness shod;
I dare not fix with mete and bound The love and power of God. - J.G. Whittier

Yeah. I grew up with this (and every other patch song)....I know there is no ill-intent, but still...

Christians, we're all afraid of fire,
We prefer to suck on pacifiers -
Baby pacifists, we're throwin' fits.
We don't shake hands, we shake our fists!
We're cannibals, we watch our brothers fall -
We eat our own, the bones - and all!

And don't forget you nasty wimmens, if you want to show us you really care, wash your face and comb your hair. This song is not only creepy, it contributes to unhealthy self-image

I sent this vid to my mom after the SFL post and the first thing she said to me was "Ohmygosh!!! That little girl in the front looks exactly like you when you were a kid!!!" She then went on about the sweet little dresses and the big pretty bows and I didn't have the heart to tell her that I just complained about all of that in a comment post. Angel

Kind of ironic that fundies disagree with just about everything Freud said, but they seem to have the Oedipus complex down in this song.

Oh they agree with Freud all the time, they just don't realize it cause they have no idea what he said so they are against him.

Freud has nothing on fundies when it comes to seeing sex in everything. In fact as much of a fruit bat as he was about it, he looks pretty unremarkable relative to some fundy sermons I have heard on the topic. The dirty old men of fundamentalism can make a sexual connection to just about anything
