Anyone else ever run into Randy Ross or T4C?

Anyone else ever run into Randy Ross or T4C?
I'm just wondering how many others here ever joined the Teens-4-Christ forums (Randy Ross' site, not the other one), and got banned for disagreeing with that controlling fundy weirdo.

Now his site is just a blog, because he realized he couldn't control the forum setting completely. Back in the day, he used to constantly discuss topics like dress standards on women, pornography, birth control, etc. with the teens (mostly girls) while trying to sound like a Fundy preacher. (It wouldn't surprise me if he's addicted to child porn or something) He also believed that if you joined his forum, you were to be in submission to him, and he had the right to counsel you without your parents' permission. He even was supported by a few churches for being an "internet missionary to teens" or something like that.

Now he's pretty much a nobody on the internet, but back in the day, he was constantly quoted on FSTDT and he even "won" an award for "Fundy of the Year" there (I think in 2006), and he posted it on his signature on the forums because he was proud of it. He was definitely one of the creepiest Fundies I've ever run into on the internet.

So... anyone else remember this guy? Got any funny/creepy stories to share?

RE: Anyone else ever run into Randy Ross or T4C?
The only "run in" I had with him was back on the KJBO forums, when one of the other members who I won't name (The other admin, that wasn't me), decided to challenge Randy to a debate because Randy wasn't a real KJBO (ie, he wasn't a ruckman KJBO guy).

You know what... that year that my old forum got featured a lot on FSTDT, I used to read that site a lot, and found myself agreeing more with the commentators then the fundies. I'm glad this site exists, because FSTDT wasn't really edifying or helpful, except in showing the ridiculous tactics and methods that fundamentalists would go to to prove pet doctrines.

Other than that, I didn't really have anything to do with T4C. I was past my teens when I became a fundy, plus, I would have told Randy to shove it if he tried any of that "submission" stuff on me. I know one person who will have many stories, but I doubt she will post them Sad
I do remember someone telling me about the money they sent to him to support his work.

He runs a forum - for maybe a thousand teens tops. Not all of them are on it at once. I ran a forum. I still pay for internet hosting. I know it wouldn't cost more than $8 a month tops, unless he is paying for something ridiculous like a private server. I don't know how he justifies taking money from people... it's like those "Fundamental top 500" and "Baptist top 500". They are link sites. They bandwidth usage is minimal. Yet they still constantly send me mail begging for money (like thousands of dollars to run their web server) to use their "pixel banner ads" on the right of their page or whatever.

Yeah, RR is kinda weird on the KJB issue, but that wasn't really my problem with him. Is the other person you're talking about someone whose name also starts with a "k"?

I used to read FSTDT, too, out of curiousity, and sometimes I'd find humor in how they made fun of ridiculous stuff RR would say, but I really hated how dirty the language was there. At least Darrell seems to be keeping this site pretty clean, and I appreciate that!

It's a different crowd - most people are here to heal, whereas FSTDT was a group of teenage athiests (ie, they haven't really looked into stuff, they just hate Christianity because it's "cool" to) whose only intent was to mock religious beliefs of others while promoting a sense of superiority amongst themselves.

And yes, the other persons name begins with a K.

Yeah, she has reconciled with RR and his wife, so she won't talk about the history there, but he's still such a liar. He makes it sound like everything he did in trying to make me submit to his leadership was all a misunderstanding. He's just overing his tracks now.

K? I knew a K girl who was very close to Ross but then disassociated with him because of disagreements on music and, possibly, KJV weirdness.

Anyhow, that guy is creepy. He was ordained in Faith Baptist Church of Shelby, NC, as an "online missionary." He sought to micromanage the lives of all of his forum posters, and even played the "Man of God" card often. He hated me so much because I ran a website where I included repentance in the gospel presentation. He said that was adding works to the gospel. What did he do? He not only banned me from the site, but also posted a thread warning the teens about me: a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I stopped caring about his site, but then K found out about a blog I kept. She told Ross and they both used anonymous usernames to flood it with retaliation.

I believe both of them had mental issues.

Different K (well, I am 99% sure of this - the one you describe does not sound like the Katerpillar I know, but another poster, who posted very briefly in the comments on the main page on a topic very dear to her hair.. I mean heart). I know who you mean.

Tony, I think I remember that thread where RR warned about you, now that you speak of it.

Yes, the "K" you're talking about isn't me, but I know her (I've actually met her in real life). She used to be a moderator on Randy's forum, but she and another moderator (Kevin) split with Randy over the birth control issue. I still don't see why birth control was a relevant topic on that forum. It just made RR even creepier for bringing it up.

Kevin Miller, perhaps? He also warned his friends to stay away from my heretical influence.

As for K, you must have met her when she came down to America for a couple of weeks...

Well, at that forum, the gnat was strained to the nth degree, so I'm not surprised about the birth control bit. You can still look up Randy Ross on facebook, and you'll see that his status updates continue to reflect his warped way of thinking.

Yes, Kevin Miller. He's now non-denominational. You might actually get along with him now. Tongue

K is actually married to an American now (since 2006) and they live in the States. I met her when she and her husband and their kids came up to visit my husband and I, in 2009.

I don't know when you last checked Randy Ross' Facebook page, but he deleted it a few months ago. He put an explanation on his blog (which is what teens-4-christ.org is now), saying that his pastor preaches against Facebook, so he deleted his account.
