RE: De-Programming
It is indeed all about relationships!
It's a book you want to give away, isn't it? Now I see why my s-i-l sent it. Cannot believe this book was two feet from me when I was hearing all about how good it was! Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.--Howard Zinn |

RE: De-Programming
" I was getting so tired of a lot of what organized religion was offering. Rules. Be good. Listen. God hates disobedience. God will punish you for doing ______. God caused ______ to happen to wake you up. God allowed ______ to happen. It really helped changing churches and hearing GRACE preached on Sunday morning. That has been such a breath of fresh air for me. I am again at the point of wanting to be in the presence of God..be it in my church on Sunday or out for a run... "
Yes! This is what has been in my head for years, though I can't recall it ever being preached from the pulpit. So how did it get in my head? That's a mystery. At the new non-fundy church, grace is preached a lot and I feel so humbled and feel like I love God again. For a long time I felt like I didn't really love God. I also believe that God loves me. I would say that the grace filled messages, plus the love I've felt from the congregation, and just thinking on God's love and His blessings are helping me deprogram from some of the crazy stuff that's been in my head for a while. |

So if you have the Holy Spirit and if you read Scripture, I think God will whisper this truth to your heart so you hunger and thirst for it and you devour it eagerly when you find it! And what of all those Christians who read the Bible and DON'T seem to have any longing for grace and love? Well, God says that He opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. So if they're not finding His grace maybe it's because they are filled with pride. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |
