I couldn't have made it more stereotypical if I'd tried. She had the gall to accuse YOU of lying? What pathetic behavior on her part (although I can't say I'm surprised, sadly... the fundy friend I talked about in my previous post behaved in much the same way- denied everything even though both of us knew it was true). I can't believe the example she's setting for her kid. So sad. I know! The worst part about it is, that we both know of others that they've treated the same way! I'm guessing they think we're idiots ( what guessing? she out right called me a fool in her reply) Ridiculous! Sorry for your friend's behavior toward you
It's rough! I could respond to her last message, but I've called out the bad behavior, now it's time to move on.

I've just had the pleasure of being a sermon illustration. When I've had the peculiar pleasure of running into Fundies in general, they make a habit of staying away from everyone else so the idea that I have to feel awkward isn't an issue.

Sorry for your friend's behavior toward you He isn't really a friend anymore, more of an acquaintance now; he shook my hand at church the following Sunday and asked "are we still friends?" I didn't really say anything. I'm sorry, but I really do not appreciate it when a cousin, and someone who I consider to be a very good friend, is treated like that. I'm sorry you're having to deal with such a display of immaturity. I know it can be pretty rough. I wonder what she would do if you told her you knew of others who she had treated the same way? I used friend for a lack of a better term. I don't know what she'd do, in fact I have a copy of a passive aggressive fb rant by her as well, but I'm just going to leave it. i understand what you mean about family. I'm really protective over mine, especially my hubby and my kids. You can mess with me all day long, but not my family! I'm really going to have to try to get that under control as my little one with autism gets older. :/

Leaving, it's another fear tactic to keep you part of the cult. Ignore it.

RE: Are your old fundy friends still your friends?
I'm still facebook friends with many of those who attended HAC with me. A few of them, like me, have either left IFBism or become much more lenient once out of HAC. Others have status updates that sound somewhat like miniature sermons. However, I do have one very close friend and former roommate who is still quite fundy.
I consider my former pastor and his wife friends. Although conservative, they weren't like many of the people at HAC. They did what they thought was right without openly criticizing those who believed differently. |

RE: Are your old fundy friends still your friends?
My two best friends from college are pretty much still fundies. The fact that I still go to an IFB church makes it easier. Friend 1 is not KJVO, but thinks other fundie stuff is good. Friend 2 is basically KJVO, but thinks some other fundie stuff is ridiculous. I'm the rebellious influence on both of them.
They do both live in different time zones from me, so I think it helps that we don't have to deal with some of the issues that might come up if we lived closer.

RE: Are your old fundy friends still your friends?
I finally lost my first fundy facebook friend. I think the last few conversations about Attachment Parenting, Christian American Nationalism, and anti-circumcision did her in.
I'm actually surprised that more of them haven't unfriended me. They've sure unfriended me in real life.
