Feedback on a marketing idea.
I can do this, but it will take a month or so.
Feasibility Premise: Youtube is an excellent marketing tool. As a Search Engine, Youtube is only rivaled by it's owner Google. Trending premise: a current trend in marketing edu-tainment is nicely-to-crudely drawn static images presented as part of a narrated speech. Also, making up words is age-old marketing. Business + challenge: I own a Resume Business Card service for job networking, which seems like a great idea to people I tell about, but there's not a lot of customers, and not a lot of awareness. THE IDEA sample, crude, initital thoughts on narration: If you've lost your job, and panic has sunk in, you run the risk of being a zomgie. Y'know - "Zee-Oh-My-Goodness I lost my job!" Panic, pessismism and depression are contagious [images of the jobless person "infecting" friends into frowny faces, almost zombie-like]. Your friends and family could join you in the feeling of loss and alarm. [more zombie like images]. Or they could try to protect their own emotions by limiting their exposure to you [Walking Dead-style forts, shooting zombies in the face with rubber bands - speech bubbles saying "run away!"] Yeah, you don't want to be a ZOMGie. But your friends and family do want to help, and they do care about you. So, why not turn them into JoNGies? JoNGies - that's your core Job Networking Group. Give them your resume, or a Minidoss Resume Business Card - a card with your contact information and key resume points. They can then give it to those people they know who may be looking to hire someone, perhaps someone like you! [instead of zombies, the one looking for a job turns those around him into angelic figures; images of interview and job offer] Yes, you lost your job. But with a plan of action and a Minidoss resume business card, your optimism and action can infect those you care about, in a good way. [fade to Minidoss logo and website address] ---------------- So...feedback? The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |

RE: Feedback on a marketing idea.
Great Idea! Your problem, which is the same as my career counseling idea is that the people we want to reach cannot afford our services.
Maybe in volume, at cents per card. Most resumes out there are simple listings of the job descriptions someone has had, rather than a real summary of what a person is able to do. That is why functional resumes are so hard to do. It is hard for individuals to see their talents outside of the job descriptions for the jobs they really do not want to continue doing. There is a reason why in this day and age we really have to taylor each resume we send out to the specific job we are applying to. Then again, maybe your idea will go viral! Go for it! For every difficult and complicated question there is an answer that is simple, easily understood and wrong." H.L. Mencken |

RE: Feedback on a marketing idea.
Viral would be too cool. I'm just praying for slight awareness.
The type of person who would use the Resume Business Card could easily purchase the $25 package for 250 cards (more than enough for networking). It's geared more towards professionals. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |
