Love Bombs and Fear
Recently I received this text from an IFBer in my prev. church.
He teaches Sunday School and would be considered... hospitable to others, doesn't manipulate folks around but he will usually obey the MoG and IFB tradition without much question... one of the "faithful". Now he asked me how I am, he was thinking of me "suddenly". I think I'm gonna ignore him. I'm under stress in college (all the work) and I don't want the IFBs to disturb whatever peace I have. Is this a love bomb - a ploy to try to get me back to fundyism, or to fishfinger out what I'm doing nowadays so the MoG can spread stuff about me? (Yes, he did that on one occasion - told the pastor at prayer meeting how he met up with an ex-member - didn't say details but the fact he told others mean it's alarm bells). I DO NOT want to stumble into the preacher or his trusty childhood friend (also the IFB church director) because I know how judgmental and hardline people they can be. Plus they're powerful people in the secular world (one used to be a famous IT professional, the other a director in a large corporation) - they may screw my reputation. And guys, have you received similar stuff? How have you handled it? An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God. |
