RE: The Great Homosexuality Debate (split from the Jesus Draws Thread)
@Donb123 - "Calling" is subjective. We can qualify it by the fruits of the spirit. Just because a sin is mentioned in the Bible, someone can "claim to be called to preach against that sin" and stand up on a street corner and waive their finger in a person's face? They don't need to follow the example of say....Jesus? We can claim we "can't speak for Jesus there", but we can call someone out on homosexuality? To me that is a double standard.
@Tony Mel - The mere fact we are Christians means we stand on the scriptures. No one here argues the "more sure word of prophesy". My point and to Donb123 as well is spirit of "accurately represent(ing) what is says about all things, in their respective proportions". I follow the example of Jesus (as laid out in the gospel) and how He accurately represented what His Father said. IMHO, if someone is not portraying a Jesus like example, but claiming to be "called" - I cry foul. "Preach always, sometimes use words" - St. Francis of Assisi |
