Obama can't fill BoA stadium in NC
Looks like president downgrade had to downsize his kickoff this b/c he can't fill the 74,000 seats at the BoA stadium even though they have been giving away free tickets at bars and busing people in for free.
And it's not severe weather that's causing this downgrade, it's the fact that 23,000,000 people are still out of work after four years of this epic failure and they're just not that into that "empty chair" anymore! "Obama’s crowds in 2008 were far bigger than in recent months. His largest audience has been 14,000 at a campaign kick-off rally at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in May. Some 13,000 people were at Obama's rally at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday." Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...z25bI0gufb Last week, people were lining up for five blocks to see Mitt Romney. " A line of people that stretched for five city blocks awaited Mr. Romney as his motorcade pulled into Union Terminal here. And inside there were so many people that the campaign had to redirect a few hundred of them into a small overflow room, where they crammed in shoulder to shoulder." http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/02/us/pol...-ohio.html |

RE: Obama can't fill BoA stadium in NC
Oh look. Some paragraphs of things you can't compare: actual numbers with line length and a room of undetermined size. Nice how the description of the Romney gathering has no concrete statistics to even know how many people were there, just description to make it sound like a lot. Union Terminal isn't that big from what I could gather, though it is difficult to get capacity numbers on its current configuration. I don't think you're talking about even more than a few thousand people in there to create overflow. The comparison isn't tenable. It's meant to sound good, but it doesn't really hold up.
FWIW, the Tampa arena where they held the RNC only holds about 20,000. Pretty sure Romney couldn't fill a 74,000 seat arena. Just saying. Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust. |

RE: Obama can't fill BoA stadium in NC
There are some big name high grossing rock bands/performers who can't fill a stadium. That has nothing to do with this but there is a reason that some of them turned to the smaller arena type venues. Its hard for ANYONE outside of a sports team to fill one up.

In this economy, too.
Outside of political junkies (like me) this just isn't a very exciting election. I bet both parties are "down" in convention attendance. Romney's campaign was giving away tickets (I got like a zillion emails from the campaign). Obama is bussing churchy people in from all over SC. One of these scenarios plays better to the media (not just conservative media). Obama doesn't have the novelty excitement he did 4 years ago. That's not saying people are excited about voting for Romney. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |

Not because I particularly like him, but he's the president. I've only ever seen one other president in real life, but not a current president. Seeing the current president in real life is cool. But I'm completely avoiding downtown this week. It's a madhouse. (The other president was Mr. Jimmy Carter at a book signing. He was a very nice man.)

I saw Reagan speak while he was still Prez (1986). Nosebleed section. All high school students at the Omni in Atlanta. No binoculars.
It was definitely cool, but how far away can you be from a Prez and still consider yourself in his presence? Go, even if you don't like him. Applaud and cheer, even. I would really enjoy seeing a sitting President speak, but I can also understand why it would be difficult/not the top of anyone's priority list. Esp. when most people are fine with just flipping on the tv to watch it. haha

I've seen a couple but then I live outside of D.C. Obama was speaking at a place less than thirty miles away and I couldn't be bothered. Not because of him but because you've seen one you've seen them all.

They didn't have it at BoA Stadium because of weather.
