Poll: What do you think about offering Bible classes in public schools?
Unless they're taught by a MOG and use the 1611, it ain't a real Bible course.
I'm concerned about what a random teacher would teach about the Bible in the public schools.
Why aren't they teaching classes about other faith traditions as well? Seems unbalanced.
Separation of church and state, anyone?
Isn't Arizona a brand of tea?

Bible Classes offered in Arizona Public Schools
You can read one of the articles about this here.

So, what do you think?

If they're teaching it as a "Here's what Christianity teaches" instead of "Here's what you need to believe" class, I'm OK with it. If it's the latter, it's breaking the establishment clause in the First Amendment, in my opinion. If it's the former, I would hope they include other faiths as well.

EDIT: Just read the article and if the class is taught as the article says it will be, I see no issue with it. I still would like to see other faiths included as well as some of their books also deal with history, etc.

The fact that the Sun is maize and the sky is blue is neither in our control, nor is something we fraudulently contrived. It just shows that God has excellent taste in colors.

Other.

Much of western civ is based on Christianity. It couldn't hurt to scholastically look at Christian texts.

If my kid went to public school in Utah, I'd expect him to be at least somewhat educated in the Book of Mormon, if for no other reason that to be greatly entertained by Stone and Parker.

The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals.

I have no problem with public schools teaching about the Bible.

In fact, I will take it further. I think parents should have more control over what curriculum is used in public schools since their tax money pays for them. They are not owned by the government.
