My church has its annoyances, but it's OK. But I really identified with the rest of what you said.

Our frustration has been that we know more about twisting Scripture to justify conformity to non-Biblical standards than we know about applying Scripture to truly become more like Christ.

Sad, but true. I was astounded where I found myself after having believed the twisted scriptures. (hehe - I had to make my fingers not type "twisted sister," the band.

I learned I was an idolator bc I was placing my trust in myself and my knowledge about the Lord, rather than trusting and worshipping the one true God. ...Mad was not the word..... Hurt, maybe. Perhaps even deceived. Either way, I give praise to Him for His faithfulness to bring me out of the nicely decorated dung pile I had gotten cozy in.

I'm so glad God loves me right where I'm at and I don't have to perform to win his love.

Psalm 139 is my favorite Psalm and I read it often for comfort b/c I'm reassured that he is with me wherever I go.

My Christianity now is one of inner peace, joy and other fruits of the spirit. I no longer care for outward things like dress and music.

I love wearing shorts and open-toed sandals LOL. We even have a thing in my house called "movie day" or I call it "grunge-fest" b/c we sit around and watch movies all day and order Chinese food.

We haven't been in church for over ten years and have been thinking about going to a non-denominational church soon. They only meet once a week which is great for us and then they have fellowships in homes.
