Check my math
I was figuring how much time the average person spends at work going to the bathroom. By the time you 'do your thing' wash your hands, etc. My guess is at least 10 minutest per day.
Now stay with me here..... 10 minutes per day times a 5 day work week equals 50 minutes per week. This averages out to a little over 43 hours per year. Now, let's say someone makes $17 per hour. In the course of a year they were paid $731. for going to the bathroom. Let's take it further. A person starts working when they were 20 and retire at 65. That's 45 years. 45 years times $731 equals $32,895. Not bad money for just going to the bathroom. |

RE: Check my math
I know people who spend way more than 10 min in the bathroom. Per trip too.

If you are an employer, the lost time due to smokers taking smoke breaks is astounding.

Smoke breaks, toilet Angry Birds tournaments, coffee, gossip time, internet, sharing stories of sexual conquest, "hurry up and wait", meaningless meetings.
Actual mileage may vary, but how much "work" is actually done in a work week. In an office, I'd go "office Space" and say in a 40 hour work week, maybe 10-20 hours or less actual work gets done. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |

There is an app you can get to monitor your bathroom time at work.

I personally think non smokers should get the same amount of "breaks" as smokers to do whatever they want.

ddandb, we don't have a lot of time on this earth! We weren't meant to spend it this way. Human beings were not meant to sit in little cubicles staring at computer screens all day, filling out useless forms and listening to eight different bosses drone on about about mission statements.
