What are they waiting for at FBC?
The link to the article from Christian Post is at the end, but the part that caught my eye was this:
The First Baptist Church public relations director explained that the church is still waiting to see how legal proceedings progress, and then they will be holding a pulpit committee to choose a new pastor. So what is it they are waiting for? What do the legal proceedings have to do with picking a new pastor? If Schapp isn't thrown in jail as a child molester are they thinking of having him back? RE: What are they waiting for at FBC?
If you've got the charisma, you can literally get away with murder and still be a pastor. See J Frank Norris, if I remember correctly.

RE: What are they waiting for at FBC?
Maybe they don't want to name someone as pastor who will then have legal charges brought against HIM for something involving the Schaap situation? That is, maybe more people are going to get into trouble when all is said and done?

If there is even a possibility that there is a connection, then legal charges or not, the person is likely not appropriate for the job. imo. |

RE: What are they waiting for at FBC?
I would think taking your time and making sure you do it correctly would be prudent. A rash decision may put them right back where they were.
Some things should be done immediately, such as addressing the needs of the victim(s) and cooperating completely with authorities. A pastoral appointment has long-term consequences, and should be done with careful consideration. I would surely hope that careful consideration is what they are doing here, and not just waiting for Schaap to get out of hot water. I just can't see that happening, even in that church. |
