Wecome; as you can see, this asylum is run by the inmates. That's why I sleep with one eye open; cause I'm the only sane one here.

Don't believe her.

RE: Sick of the Crazy...
Glad you finally got sick of the crazy and did something about it. That's the first step that many in the cult never take and those who do often pay dearly for it. Freedom comes with a great price.

This is a clear violation of the butt cushion distribution policies that you yourself put into place! I feel devastated and betrayed.

RE: Sick of the Crazy...
Thank you all so much! I can't really speak much to the scandal topics, as the names and places are unfamiliar and my head spins trying to follow it all. But I love hearing how those of you who are believers have gained freedom of mind and spirit and endeavor to live the Christian life now.

Most of your in-jokes also go way over my head. But thanks for the butt cushion. Big Grin Can anyone explain the meaning of "three to thrive"???? Smile

RE: Sick of the Crazy...
Welcome!

Three to Thrive - catchy advertising phrase designed to hide the ugly manipulative motivation behind it.

Sunday Morning, Sunday Night, and Wednesday Night - you need all of them in order to be seen as part of the "committed core" who don't just drop the kids off at AWANA, etc. Not showing up even just hours after bearing a child or having surgery indicates that you don't really want to grow, you can only thrive if you arrive for every opportunity for the Mog (Man of god - emphasis on Man) to flog you for wearing pants, or some other such nonsense which varies depending upon the particular sin problem the Mog is struggling with at the moment.

As for this statement in your OP
Quote:-- So much talk of our not being legalists because works are not required to CAUSE either justification or sanctification, but yet it is implied that certain non-biblically-specified works must be the EFFECT of sanctification;

this is by far the biggest issue I have faced in my fundy-lite circles. Its essentially a way to argue away the biggest assault on their flawed doctrine which is clearly legalistic, and support the huge carcass of man-created law that they build around God's word supposedly out of wisdom, but really out of a desire for control, a flawed view of what spiritual life really looks like, and continuing slavery to sin and law that indicates many of them are not truly regenerate. Its semantics and word-smithing because they have no other defense for their unbiblical stance.

LOL, I hadn't heard the term, but I'm more than familiar with the concept being pushed on me! Thanks too for the clarification on Mogs. Tongue

RE: Sick of the Crazy...
Welcome! I like your third point about legalism. I've never heard anyone cry louder about how they are NOT legalistic like the IFB. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

It reminds me of when I was a freshman at my IFB high school. One day I decided to ask one of the teachers what legalism meant. The first thing out of her mouth was, "Well, first of all, we are NOT legalistic.". I didn't even hear what she said after that. I was only 15, but I wasn't stupid!
