RE: Music I Happen To Be Listening To
I listen to all varieties of music.
- For inspirational/social themed stuff - Bob Marley is one of the best musicians IMO. Apart from "One Love" and "Three Little Birds", you should really listen to "Zimbabwe". Yesyes, the right-wingers among you will probably dislike this song - it's a "revolutionary" song that protests against colonialism and is still approrpiate today - against tyranny and injustice. - "Sweet Home Alabama" and Queen's songs (esp. "Don't Stop Me Now") are some pretty cool songs as well. And if you are depressed or stuck at home, try sipping tea and listen to "November Rain". - Ironically, I like to listen to national anthems too. Ironically, the dictatorships seem to produce the best anthems. I think the best are the East German and apartheid-era South African anthem. And of course the communist "Internationale" anthem. Most beautiful aesthetically. - Those "poppy" songs you hear today on the radio seems to be more suitable for the party scene and the dance floor. Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and the like. Catchy, yes, but of little true artistic value. For those who listen to old-school hip-hop, what is Snoop Dogg doing today, singing with Katy Perry and other pop groups? You'll never catch him in those places ten years ago. - Christian stuff? I still don't like CCM. I don't know why. But I like ancient hymns. Not those 19th century revivalist ones. I'm talking about Reformation-era hymns as well as the medieval era hymns/chants. Esp. the choir singing Kyrie eleison. But what beats all those songs above is to stand up, wave a KJV and a lightstick, and then cry out, "There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder working pow'r, in the precious blood of the Lamb! AAAAMMMMENNNNNN!!!!" (joking)
An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God. |
