RE: Music I Happen To Be Listening To
I love Simple Plan. And this song is the story of my life, so I really like it. Actually the whole album they just came out with (Get your heart on) is really quality.

Here's some old-school punk to rev you up.
Change the word "British" to "Fundy" and it's an excellent jail-break song against legalistic fundamentalism and its bondage. An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God. |

Here's a pop song that sounds Broadwayish!
Dance to it! An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God. |

Beautiful and haunting and so, so true. For anyone who's mourned not just love lost but love unacknowledged in the aftermath. Slightly NSFW (implied nudity).

RE: Music I Happen To Be Listening To
I've recently gotten brave enough to step out of my fundy shell and start listening to some non-Christian genre music. I love (most) Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian, but it's nice to feel free to listen to a secular song and not feel guilty. Two of my favorites right now are "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry and "Best Thing I Never Had" by Beyonce. I'm still exploring the new, vast world of music that has opened up to me, so I still don't know a lot of artists, but I'm learning (and will watch these videos posted here when I have access to a computer as most of them are unfortunately not available on mobile). I still don't feel right listening to rock, but I am enjoying a lot of other music. Of course I still have to do all this in secret and hope my parents and church don't find out, but it feels great to listen to it on the radio in my car and not feel like I'm in sin!

I remember when I first ventured forth from the cocoon of classical (which I still love) and conservative Christian music that I had been raised in. There is such a wealth of great music out there, including a lot of great rock music that I hope you will soon be able to listen to with a clear conscience. Happy listening! Actually its just preference... I just don't like her voice. I also cannot stand the heavily autotuned junk that is so popular today. My recommendations are listen to some U2, which is one of the greatest bands ever. Period. OneRepublic is pretty good, so is the Script, but its interesting how many newer groups are influenced by U2. They were truly revolutionary and the fact they are still popular is a testimony to their greatness. |
