It's not on sermon audio yet, so use this link. Let the conversation commence.

He starts talking about the Faculty cuts at about minute 17.

And then when he gets to minute 23 he starts to talk about Grab n Go.

Talk about perspective.

For an added twist, just a week ago I got a "we want money, please donate to us"-type envelope from BJU. They are revamping the dining common - adding all kinds of new things, apparently.

Funny thing - I didn't feel led to send them any of my cash.

Schools are facing budget cuts. My alma-mater (Secular-U) called me today to ask for $$. They pulled some crappy stuff while I was there like not fixing the music building roof, making us have class in moldy classrooms cuz the rain kept leaking in, cutting hours for maintenance people so the music building bathrooms didn't get cleaned during the summer, etc. All this while they were building a new health center so that students "could be more aware of health issues and maintain a healthier lifestyle". Angry

So I don't know how I feel about sending them money. I had scholarships for my five years there that have helped me to make my college loans pretty low, so I can't knock fund-raising. I wish they had just allocated it better.

Oh but wait....Stephen said that the school isn't in financial trouble, that they would have made these decisions simply because they were good "stewardship" decisions. So they really don't need your money.

Now I'm curious. Can you ear-mark your donations to BJU?

You probably can, but based on the level of deception so far, I'd say there is no guarantee that they would honor your wishes.

Not everything as Secular U was a spiritual issue, either.
