OK, I finished it.

I did like how it ended. The last chapters reminded me of Peretti's original style with very short paragraphs as you skip from person to person as some suspenseful event is taking place.

However, I just didn't think the story was worth 495 pages! Minor characters just didn't seem real to me, especially the villains. Only Dane and Mandy seemed like real people and with nearly 500 pages, I thought that a true weakness that the other characters seemed like vague shadows.

*POSSIBLE SPOILER* I thought Dane and Mandy trusted Parmenter and Moss way too easily. It just wasn't believable. Also it's a minor point in the story, but Mandy's going off to the address left her in the envelope when she knew that people involved in the situation had recently suspiciously died was a foolish and unbelievable thing in my mind for her to do. Why should she trust the letter writer and go there alone? It would have been a perfect spot to bump HER off.

I wanted to like it, but it didn't really do it for me.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

I think I was too much in a hurry to find out how it ended to remember that part! I just wanted the "happy ending"!

The happy ending was satisfying and heart-warming! I love a life-long love story!

But it just went on and on and on, and then it skipped over certain details that would have added verisimilitude. Like her working with the doves not just having them always cooperate with her when she performed.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.
