Caffeine
I've been without it for 2.5 days.

I feel weird.

I've heard that liquor helps...

RE: Caffeine
It may be frowned upon by my employer, however...

RE: Caffeine
Why would ever do that to yourself?

Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

I have coffee and tea at my beck and call. Werd.

Are you trying to quit caffeine?

I'm trying to cut back and I'm starting out by dropping it all together.

Because right now if I try to drink "just one cup" I'll inevitably go right back to drinking it all day long.

RE: Caffeine
I was drinking 2 cups a day and went cold turkey once. I had a horrendous headache for 2 weeks.

The next time I quit, I weaned myself down, in a very methodical way, to one cup of tea a day (I was at 3 20 oz cups of dark roast a day). I stayed there.

RE: Caffeine
I go off caffeine during Advent and Lent. My headaches always stop within 4 days. The severity of the headaches depends on how much caffeine I'd been used to consuming. When I was severely addicted (I had to have 16 oz of strong coffee to relax enough to sleep at night) I had no more withdrawal headaches after day 4, and the craving stopped in two weeks. A cup of coffee still sounded nice, but I no longer felt like I MUST HAVE COFFEE NOW!

Cutting back gradually was less intense, but I never really felt free of the craving until I stopped entirely, and once I knew how long the headaches and the craving would last, I found it easier to withstand them for a shorter time than a less intense withdrawal for a longer time. YMMV.
