Does the Stolen Valor Act apply?

The Stolen Valor Act was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on the first amendment right to be a douchebag.

My younger son will sometimes wear his brother's Air Force Parkas and survival gear.....but that's because he's cold or going to spend times out in the woods or something. He's not pretending to 'be' anything and if anyone points out the name tag he will tell them that its his brother and not him. I have some good friends that ARE former Marines. I'd be only too happy to give them his address, so they could have a long "talk " with him and show him the error of his ways.
Some people get cool hallucinations that tell them to kill people. Mine just try to get me into trouble. Paul Southworth |

Thank you for your service, Tina's Marine.
I understand his desire to do a "theme night." I've planned many themed programs in the past, and they're lots of fun. I've always thought visual aids and decorations and object lessons can help add impact to the spiritual truths being taught. HOWEVER, why present yourself as a Marine if you're not, especially if you're standing in the pulpit preaching? If this were my program, I'd dress in camouflage myself, then ask if a real Marine would come in and meet the kids, talk to them, or do photo ops with them. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

Most servicemen would appreciate being asked to represent their branch for a group of kids.

I took it to mean it was sad that he dressed up himself, when so many genuine servicemen would be happy to help.

Yes, she's sad about the missed opportunity for a real service member to come and enjoy getting to interact with kids who probably get super excited about it.

Yep. They missed an opportunity. My son loves soldiers. For a real soldier to show up in a dress uniform? He'd talk about it for a long time.
