Exodus International gets a clue.
It appears that even Exodus International has finally caught onto the fact that "pray away the gay" doesn't work. It will be interesting to see how much (if any) of an impact this will make on organizations like Focus on the Family who for years have based their arguments on "studies" that show that sexual orientation is a choice.

I'm actually glad they are realizing they were wrong and admitting it. It's a refreshing change for someone to admit it. I know they have caused a lot of damage, but I always find it easier to forgive when someone has admitted they were wrong.

It's a little concerning though that they still use services that utilize such "therapy", apparently it is just the official view that such "therapy" is harmful. Good for Chambers, I hope he can re-make Exodus into something able to accomplish some good for people.

RE: Exodus International gets a clue.
We've got to be careful not to misunderstand what Exodus has said:
Reparative Therapy doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be a way of "praying away the Gay." They are not saying it is OK to be gay. They are not saying God loves gays. They are not supporting Gay marriage. They are still saying that Gay men cannot in any way, shape or form express their love for another man. For every difficult and complicated question there is an answer that is simple, easily understood and wrong." H.L. Mencken |

Maybe they could disband and all go join the Gay Christian Network? Where people are supported no matter their beliefs about how God wants them to live (celibate, partnered, etc.). |

RE: Exodus International gets a clue.
So ONE guy changes his mind, wow! Was it even worth a story? I was expecting alot more.
Thousands upon thousands have been helped out of the sinful, homosexual lifestyle, and are living wonderful, vibrant, natural lives, one man or woman or a hundred changing their minds, won't change the facts! And the fact is that folks can be helped out of this lifestyle, and thousands have! I also, again, cite the very first longitudinal, peer reviewed scientific study of it kind (Ex-Gay? A longitudinal study of religiously-mediated change in Sexual Orientation) regarding how folks change their "orientation" and the study emphatically concluded that not only can folks "change" the study also concluded that such changes cause no psychological harm. The study was published in the "Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy" in Oct 2011 "For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for ALL, and therefore ALL died" 2 Cor 5:14...Me too, Paul! |
