I found this CareerCentral (BJU) job listing
Saw this on BJU's job board today. Read for yourself. Enjoy.

RE: I found this CareerCentral (BJU) job listing
Is this a paid internship?

RE: I found this CareerCentral (BJU) job listing
I think I might know the person who posted the job.
Edited: Correction 99% sure I know the poster. The last name and family description fits and that's not a common last name! I'm somewhat surprised as last I knew they weren't fundy. The way it always was, is no longer good enough. You make me want to be brave. - Nichole Nordeman |

RE: I found this CareerCentral (BJU) job listing
I was wondering that too. Does the very word "intern" mean that the academy wants free help?
"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

Quote:unwavering support and encouragement of homeschoolingI knew BJU supported homeschooling, but I wouldn't call it unwavering. I find the support of Christians schools opposed to homeschooling. Not that I'm opposed to supporting Christian schools, but this person is incorrect in my understanding of the definitions of the selected words. @PW, I am unsure of the OP's use of the word intern, but it could mean either, in common parlance. Here, though, I think you are correct-- this user is looking for free assistance. |

Aside from the working for free issue...if she is in class all day and can't homeschool/care for her kids, is the "intern" expected to be childcare as well?

I just find it really funny the poster makes it sound like you're applying to this established educational institution when all it boils down to is "I need help with my kids."

It says it involves overseeing the schoolwork - so I'd say that's a yes. Kind of sucks really - I can understand keeping the kids home to homeschool, but for me besides education, family was an important part of it. Wanting to homeschool and then ditching your kids (and possibly trying to offload them for free too!) to pursue a personal opportunity seems a bit pathetic. And seeing as how she is possibly looking for free help, putting them in the BJU schools is probably out of the question.
