I found this CareerCentral (BJU) job listing
Saw this on BJU's job board today. Read for yourself. Enjoy.

Quote:Description
I am the headmistress of the Yenovkian Academy, a home school consisting of six female students (our daughters) ranging from ages 11 to seven. Since 2005, I have been the sole teacher with the exception of self-administered computer-based curriculum. Currently, our school is located in Virginia.

This month, I was accepted into Clemson University's one-year MBA program (classes will be held in Greenville). This program will require our school to temporarily relocate to South Carolina and will require me to be in class from 9 am until 2:30 pm every Monday through Friday. As a result, my students will be without their full-time teacher during this time.

Our school's motto is Via, Veritas, Vita (The Way, The Truth, and The Life). We seek to teach our students all subjects though the lens of God and his Creation. I believe this follows very closely with BJU's "Build Faith. Challenge Potential. Follow Christ.". The end goal of our academy is to educate our children to be assets to their community and lights of their God and to equip them to be ready for the opportunities God presents to them. We expect excellence from them academically.

I am reaching out to Bob Jones because of its outstanding academic and theological reputation and its unwavering support and encouragement of homeschooling. I am in immediate need of an intern who can assist in managing the academy during the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters. While I will continue instructing my students on the weekends, the intern will oversee all schoolwork during the school day, grade papers, and assist in lesson planning for the week. Ideally, the intern will assist me Monday through Thursday each week, excluding Clemson and BJU school holidays.

This position is an excellent opportunity for independent work and responsibility. The ideal candidate must be dependable, independent, creative, prompt, organized, disciplined, self-starting, detail-oriented, energetic, loving, and fun. While I have selected the curricula our academy employs, the student intern is free to work "outside of the box" to encourage a robust learning environment.

This position may be filled by one student or it may be broken down hourly or by discrete subject by several students. For example, the math intern for one hour, the history intern for one hour, the literature intern for one hour, etc.

Because this is an all-female school, the student intern(s) also must be female. The position will be in Simpsonville. Classes at Clemson begin August 20, 2012; I will need this position filled by that date

When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow.

Is this a paid internship?

I think I might know the person who posted the job.

Edited: Correction 99% sure I know the poster. The last name and family description fits and that's not a common last name! I'm somewhat surprised as last I knew they weren't fundy.

I was wondering that too. Does the very word "intern" mean that the academy wants free help?

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

Quote:unwavering support and encouragement of homeschooling
I knew BJU supported homeschooling, but I wouldn't call it unwavering. I find the support of Christians schools opposed to homeschooling. Not that I'm opposed to supporting Christian schools, but this person is incorrect in my understanding of the definitions of the selected words.

@PW, I am unsure of the OP's use of the word intern, but it could mean either, in common parlance. Here, though, I think you are correct-- this user is looking for free assistance.

Aside from the working for free issue...if she is in class all day and can't homeschool/care for her kids, is the "intern" expected to be childcare as well?

I just find it really funny the poster makes it sound like you're applying to this established educational institution when all it boils down to is "I need help with my kids."

One should not think of this opportunity in terms of filthy lucre, but one should see it for the rich ministry experience it will provide.

It says it involves overseeing the schoolwork - so I'd say that's a yes.

Kind of sucks really - I can understand keeping the kids home to homeschool, but for me besides education, family was an important part of it. Wanting to homeschool and then ditching your kids (and possibly trying to offload them for free too!) to pursue a personal opportunity seems a bit pathetic.

Really.
And seeing as how she is possibly looking for free help, putting them in the BJU schools is probably out of the question.
