Modern Religious Churchianity summed up :)
This is from a guy who went to BJU. Some of you might have known him then. He has a blog at godspuregrace.blogspot.com
--- Do you work to be accepted? Then you are a law oriented legalist. Legalists are often angry people that are never satisfied. They are never satisfied because their god too is never satisfied. They even try changing others because they believe to be “highly favored” before God is done by changing oneself. We have so many pastors and teachers today that are focusing their congregations attention on what it is wrong with them and then offer steps on how to overcome whatever wrong they find. I can say that such pastors/teachers that constantly preach such sermons are actually preaching to themselves. These pastors/teachers see only what is wrong with themselves as they have yet to find the victory, but their hypocrisy will never openly admit that they are just as deep in the mire as their congregation is as their so called steps to victory have yet to work with them. It is sad but the pastors role today seems to be nothing more than removing the beam out of others even though they have yet to remove their own they have been hiding. I can attest to the fact that so many students majoring in bible went to school with hopes that all of their bible studies would free them from what they felt was wrong with them, but end up graduating, and then immediately go into ministry preaching bad seminary notes as well as all the tactics and behavioral modification programs they learned at college that has yet to work for them. Isn't it wonderful to go to some church that only tells you how awful you are? How you probably will lose your salvation? How you probably are not saved? How if after 20 years of faithfully serving Christ that if you die in the act of sin or unbelief will prove that you never were saved to begin with? How God will use disease and might even affect your family with disasters in order to chastise you? How you are probably out-of-fellowship with Him? How you probably have some unconfessed sin in your life? How taking communion with any unconfessed sin might result in disease or death? How you need to try harder? How angry God is? How you might sin yourself beyond hope? How you need to devote more time and money to church? How you must do things to be blessed? How God might withdraw His peace and assurance because you are performing lousy for Him? How you need to be more like this or that OT or NT saint? How your faith might be flawed? How it might be a demonic faith, spurious faith, dead faith and so on? How your repentance might not have been enough as you need to feel your sins more? How you can't be married to Christ unless you have first divorced yourself from your sins? How if Christ isn't made Lord of every area of your life then you are toast? How if you cherish even the slightest sin that you will die forever without Christ? How you need to pray more? How you need to read your bible more? How you ought to be dressing? How your skirt needs to be 2 inches below your knee? How God only approves of one Bible version for reading as all others have their roots in the devil? How you need to join a ministry? How you need to pass out gospel tracts? How you need to go to a faithful church that rips you apart as all other churches are not as good? How great it is to go to a church for years and be treated as though you really are not that important? To hell with legalistic religion!! For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; - Titus 2:11-12 |

WOW. That last paragraph sums up the last decade of my life before I left fundy-ism.
So glad that it's behind me. |

I noticed a lot (not all) of those at my ex-IFBx church. I didn't really comprehend them fully until I began attending my new church, which focuses more on God's standards and not man's. How freeing it was! I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. It's an awesome feeling.

That is well-written and sums things up beautifully.
