Paul vs. Jesus

RE: Paul vs. Jesus
First off - your questioning doesn't scare me. I view it as if I were of one political opinion posting on the board of a differing opinion. I just don't understand what you gain by doing it?

I travel the US for my job. The only Blue Laws I encounter in the US are in relationship to alcohol. The only reason the alcohol blue laws are not replealed today (speaking for PA) is the money that is generated by the state in regards to alcohol. Hardly a religious intent.

Hyperbole - no. You mention that delusional people's beliefs creep into law which insinuates that that means the laws are bad. Not serving alochol on Sundays isnt bad, inconvenient yes, but not bad.

BTW, what is MY version of religion? I am a practicing Catholic. Catholics make up the majority of the religious in my part of the country. Catholicism traces our ancestry to Peter the apostle of Jesus. We have been practicing our faith for 2000 years. How are is Catholic teaching any more dangerous to school children today than it was when Jesus was alive?

As far as Quiverfull and Focus on the Family - I have never listened to either of them and vaguely know of their existence. From what I can gather, they are an extreme minority. How could their influence be felt enough to be dangerous legislatively?

I think you are generalizing this board into a bunch of former BJU students who "wear slacks to the grocery store or drink a beer". I did not attend one of those school, yet did grow up fundy only to be called to the Catholic Church. My take on scripture is that it is not necessarily infallible, but that the teaching wound throughout are sound doctrine. I cannot explain the vengeful God of the OT, but that does not mean I throw out the Bible. I choose to follow the teachings of Jesus as the perfect example. Jesus was a man of peace who lived a life worthy of emulating. He is my example.

The anti-abortion lobby is not a small minority.

RE: Paul vs. Jesus
I answer all your objections and all you can come back with is that anti-abortion is not a small minority.......

Pro-life is a belief that life begins at conception. This is not a radical viewpoint only held by the deeply religious.

You didn't answer them all. I chose to respond to the one you're most obviously off base about.

RE: Paul vs. Jesus
Blue laws - check

Hyperbole - check

Public schools - check

Legislative impact of criminalizing contraception - check

I stand by the statement that Quiverfull and Focus on the Family do not have legislative power. They may be part of the pro-life community but they do not drive the bus for sure.
