If it is just private files, archive it like the others have said.

Public files are trickier to handle.

I had to deal with this on a public post. Worse, a VERY public post which had received a lot of praise in the past. I couldn't simply delete and deny in that case. Instead, I kept the entire file, didn't delete a word, but instead broke it down into sections and answered my past self with the things I knew needed to be changed. I've also had to do more than one public post about why and how my beliefs have changed on various issues.

The thing with the net is that everything is out there and not going anywhere soon, so it's better to be upfront and explain the changes then to try to hide them.

this thread made me think of the backstreet boys fanfiction i wrote back in high school. it is probably out there somewhere... not traceable to me, as i used a pen name, but omg. the shame!

but yeah, don't worry about it. you said it's private, right? archive, delete, whatev. if public... you could do the same thing, or write counter-essays explaining how & why your beliefs have changed.
