Waiting for Armageddon Movie
I'm in the middle of watching this on Netflix. I can relate to the beginning where there's a mom with her kids and she does not believe her kids will ever get to grow up. My mom thought the same thing. It kinda does something to one's hopes for the future when you don't really believe you'll get to use your college degree you're working on, or maybe not get married, or do anything with your life. Or at least to hear that from your parents. |

RE: Waiting for Armageddon Movie
My sibling believes that the rapture is going to happen in our lifetime and thinks I'm an apostate because I don't want to talk about our glorious future in heaven.
I've met Fundies who thought that mosques should be bombed. Their exact words were "Nuke them all and let God sort them out". It seems that many fundies have channeled their racism from black segregation to "Keep the Muslims out" segregation. ^^Note: I'm not calling all dispensationalists racist. Just the crazy-war-monger fundies that I've met. |

RE: Waiting for Armageddon Movie
That looks like an interesting movie. Fundamentalist or not, all of the churches that I've attended in my life have had varying amounts of Armageddon fixation. Even though I know about those weird Preterists and Amillennials, it's hard for me to imagine Christianity without it.
On another note, there's also the perspective of not wanting the rapture to happen until one gets married, for, uh, obvious reasons...

Now that I am on the other side of that, it is more about seeing my kids grow up.

"...I'm an apostate because I don't want to talk about our glorious future in heaven." Lizzy, Influenced enough at church, Fundamentalists make up the doctrines as they go along....Sanctified improv! You will be an apostate IF: you're not as excited as I am, as heartbroken as I am, as cautious as I am, read your bible as much as I do, come to the same conclusions as I do, amen as much as I do, dress like I do....etc. I hate to say it, but the Bible doesn't talk a whole lot about Heaven, so as far as I'm concerned, it's all theory until I'm there. Having a 'How 'bout them Cincinnati Reds?' day...and waiting for the other shoe drop... |
