RE: Flying
I strongly dislike flying! the ONLY part that is good is getting to your destination quickly, if needed.
It's far more enjoyable to drive. I love driving, even in traffic!

RE: Flying
I love to fly. I love it. Takeoffs make me happy, looking out the window, getting half a can of coke, all of it. Going someplace by air is such a fun way to go someplace.

I can't do it anymore, tho, because airport security sparks panic attacks. I can't face a TSA checkpoint & act like a normal person. so, ground-based travel for me.

Yeah, I get the TSA "hand rape" every time I get to the checkpoint....even when in uniform. Dodgy

Favorite part of flying: Wealthy people and corporations who like to spend upwards of 50 million on aircraft, thereby keeping my husband employed and paying for my WoW addiction.

Worst part of flying: the screaming

RE: Flying
I enjoy flying mostly, but not the seats or the bathrooms.

When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow.

RE: Flying
I love flying! It's so amazing to look out the window and feel like you are looking at a map, being able to identify geographic locations from the sky. I remember the first time I flew, it was so cool to be able to see the U.S. east coast, as well as the British Isles, from the sky.

What I dislike about it is the airport security stuff, as well as being stuck in the middle of the plane on a 12-hour flight.

RE: Flying
Well, airport security stuff isn't an issue here. I love the actual flying feeling. My only experiences flying commercially have been flying from Central Queensland to Brisbane for the day to visit health professionals. It was all paid for by Qld Health, so that was good too.

My biggest thing was stressing that we would get to appointments on time, using public transport, etc. It was always a long, stressful day.

RE: Flying
I used to love flying. It was so fun and exciting walking through the airport and eagerly waiting for boarding. I almost always boarded through the tube, but once in a while we crossed the tarmac and went up the stairs which made me feel old-fashioned and cosmopolitan!

Take-off is amazing as the plane goes faster and faster and then so gently lifts into the air. Gaining altitude is one of the few times during the flight when you're not level and you FEEL as if you're flying. The only weird part was in college when I'd fly home, my dad usually got me tickets in the front row which for some reason often was facing row 2. So while everyone else was pressed INTO their seats, I felt like I was falling out of mine, plus it felt like everyone else on the plane could see you. It was also weird to fly face to face with a stranger! (However, back then, the plane was rarely filled to capacity.)

It was exciting and fun.

It's turned into something miserable. The seats are WAAAY too crowded and the security measures are invasive and insulting. I HATE taking off my shoes; I hate that only ticketed passengers can go to the gate now, and I hate never knowing if you'll be pulled out of line for special attention. (When I was flying to my grandmother's funeral several years ago with my one year old baby, I got pulled aside and wanded. Ticked me off. I hate being treated like a suspect just because they don't know how to do real background checks or profiling. And I haven't flown since the new policies have been put into place. Not sure I ever will. I think I'd freak if someone put their hands on me.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

RE: Flying
Flying is unnatural. It was only meant for birds, bats and insects.

RE: Flying
I like getting there way faster than driving...it's almost always way faster. I don't mind once I am checked in and through security.
I hate the security process. It's so intrusive. Yeah it's keeping us safer...not really buying it. It makes it look good though.

My first commercial flight was 1993 and I do not remember all the security then. I remember small town airport, friendly people, welcome! Now it can be very stressful. I try to not let it get to me. I have probably flown 6 or so times in the past 4 years mostly for work....

I really like going up in a small private aircraft. Have taken a few of those trips including one that changed a 5 hour car trip into a 1 hour flight. That was nice!!
