Ha-ha. Smile I just like hearing other people's reactions to some of the books I've enjoyed, even if you don't like it. It's the other perspectives, and the conversation about the book, that interest me. So I'd be curious if your library has any of these and you get around to reading them.

But if you don't get the chance to let us know, don't worry about it. Wink

Whoa, that's a lot of smileys in one box.

Let me add more: WinkSmileCoolBig GrinTongueShy

Also, there is apparently a limit of 10 smileys per post. Who knew, right?

I read most of his books in the last summer or 2. He wrote the book Wicked...which the Broadway musical of the same name is based on. It was FAR darker than the musical and had some differences in plot. It was a solid read and probably my favorite of all of his books.

Well I didn't know that...interesting.

First trip to the library: The Chosen by Chaim Potok (been meaning to read that one for awhile) and something by Trigliani. Maybe next time littlest NDTK will let mom have more than 5 seconds to choose a book before he threatens the entire library with an epic meltdown.

The Chosen is excellent.

Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust.

I think I read through "Redeeming Love" in a day. Nothing else got done that day, but I couldn't put it down. Rivers' Mark of the Lion series is pretty good as well.

I'm not sure if you're Christian or not but I'm gonna recommend two Christian non-fiction books because I don't read much fiction.

My favorite book that I've read lately has been Christian Smith's "The Bible Made Impossible: Why Biblicism is Not a Truly Evangelical Reading of Scripture".

Scot McKnight's "The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible".

Callaghan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson is a fantastic book, one of my favorite sci/fi stories. I first started reading his stuff in high school and I can't recommend him enough. Another wonderful book for summer reading (for both you and your older kids) is Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine, IMO, an absolute classic. If you're more into general fiction, Joyce Magden's Bright's Pond books are great. Don't let the fact that she's considered a Christian writer put you off. Her books are well written with very believable plots and characters and no Roman Road conversions anywhere in the pages.

Some people get cool hallucinations that tell them to kill people. Mine just try to get me into trouble.

Game of Thrones series. Depending on your reading speed, that might take up your whole summer...
