You might enjoy Mark Twain's Letters from the Earth then. Similiar concept. It's a collection of letters from Satan, who has been banished to roam the earth, written to Gabriel and Michael telling them what he has found on Earth. One of his observations is this one: "Man is a Religious Animal. He is the only Religious Animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion--several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn't straight."

Never heard of it - will check it out!
