Favorite movie of all-time
Ok, notice that I didnt make the title "best movie ever"-I want to know what is your favorite movie of all time. For instance, I think that Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies of all time, but it is not my favorite one personally.

My two favs are:
Tombstone
Boondock Saints

Boondock Saints is such good stuff.

My personal favorite is still The Princess Bride. It has everything, after all.

Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust.

The Princess Bride is awesome.

One of my most favorite movies is Last of the Mohicans. (And please don't point out that some of you weren't even BORN when this movie came out!)

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

My favorite movie? Surely you jest. Tongue

Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Princess Bride is a classic. It truly does have everything. I also like The Count of Monte Cristo for the same reason....

I'm not jesting. And don't call me "Shirley."

The Shining.

It's a horror movie for people who don't watch horror. It's as deep or as shallow as you want it to be. Kubrick was a GENIUS.

Once you think you've peeled off every layer, there's still layers and layers and layers to go. Once you get past those layers, someone makes an observation of something you have never seen before. Thousands of rabbit trails with which to exercise my introvert mind.

Puzzles, word games, number games, maze games...The Hotel is a funhouse if you know where to look.....Heck, even the inevitable movie goofs (like continuity errors) seem eerily perfect and are often credited to Kubrick's genius.

Key things to look for: the PBJ sandwich Danny eats early in the film, furniture moving between shots; the fade wipes in between scenes - notice the relationship between the image in the old scene and the image of the new scene. Enjoy the imperfect symmetry of nearly everything in the movie. Wash in the waters of the uncanny.

The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals.

RE: Favorite movie of all-time
My two co-favorites are Casablanca and Dr. Strangelove. I personally consider Casablanca the best movie ever made, with Citizen Kane, Gone With the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia following close behind. Kane and Lawrence would definitely not be on my short list of favorites, but they are amazing for the craft of moviemaking.

Lord of the Rings. The entire trilogy. I see it as one movie.
