Neighborhood Bible Time
Did any of the guys on here who attended Fundy U work during the summer as NBT Evangelists? They came to our church one summer, and several guys in my college traveled with them each year. During breaks at work they would practice the Booster Cheer.
Obviously this girl did not get saved during Bible Time at her church, since she is wearing shorts and the Tinker Bell on her shirt is dreadfully out of dress code.

RE: Neighborhood Bible Time
My husband remembers going to one as a kid. I think I took my kids to one several years ago. It was very small - maybe 6-8 kids - and held in someone's yard.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

RE: Neighborhood Bible Time
I have some friends from Fundy U who were evangelists in NBT. Practically all of them my age would not associate with NBT these days but most of them do appreciate the experience they had with working with kids. I do know "Boss" Homsher (don't know if he is still around) used a lot of intimidation tactics with those he thought might be good candidates and that he applied his Keswick theology in interesting ways, like telling his evangelists during training to get alone with God in the woods and not to come out until they hear from Him.

I walk with bare, hushed feet the ground Ye tread with boldness shod;
I dare not fix with mete and bound The love and power of God. - J.G. Whittier

RE: Neighborhood Bible Time
When I was a student at TTU, I helped one of the chapel churches with an NBT crusade and had a lot of fun. I wouldn't do it now--there's a church in town that does NBT--but fundy-me thought it was great.

RE: Neighborhood Bible Time
We called them "Bible Clubs", synchronized them with a VBS at an IFB church that same week, and had a big finale at the end for both.

This is the org that we used to work under while doing them: SMITE Camp

In a week every summer, we'd do around 300 clubs! (Ya know how Fundies like numbers!)

I can't believe how many years I wasted my entire summers doing those. Angry

Fundamentalism no longer has a hold on me - I'm free!

RE: Neighborhood Bible Time
They would come to MBBC in WI each year in chapel and speak for recruiting purposes.
