RE: Jack Schaap... Why so hated?
you are getting guidence. all these ex-fundys are saying to get away from the influence of that church and that man, but you're convinced he isn't that bad.
i think this is one of those things you're going to have to find out for yourself, and it'll probably take years or decades to do so. ![]() (05-31-2012 01:25 AM)myotch Wrote: How did your parents take it when you told them you were female? |

RE: Jack Schaap... Why so hated?
Wife beaters and child abusers can seem very nice to people outside of the family. Its someting they do to retain power over them. 'Why brother so and so would NEVER do that!
He is such a 'nice' man. Nice can hide a miltitude of sins. The people here who are speaking out against this man have nothing to gain by it. Why would they lie? O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new; you, the mirror of my life renewed, let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine |

RE: Jack Schaap... Why so hated?
My childhood best friend's uncle was a well known neo-Nazi leader. That's right. A neo-Nazi.
I know the man. He would likely recognize me on the street. And if any of you met him in his prime, you would have likely found him to be a very charming and engaging man and the Nazi thing would have gone right by you because he didn't make a habit of announcing that in social settings. At a seminar for teachers at the Holocaust museum that I attended eleven years ago, one of the education directors told us that he always explained to his students that the people who planned and carried out the Holocaust were normal people who spent time with their families and went to parties and whatever. Because "the devil doesn't wear horns or we'd recognize him to easily". |

As the British intelligence officer who interrogated Heinrich Himmler after his surrender indicated, what was truly striking was not the evil that the man had personally done and been complicit in, it was the sheer normality of his conduct and discussion. The officer referred to it as "the banality of evil." Hitler is described as being very fond of children, often stopping at rallies to speak with them. He was an avid animal lover. He is also described as having a strong moral code, expelling adulterers and drunks from the Nazi Party. And yet, one of the most objectively evil leaders in human history. RE: Jack Schaap... Why so hated?
Schaap is the biggest, walking, talking, dip shit to ever hit the planet earth. He has been groomed to fail since he began to date Cindy Schaap. When I was there, he was worshiped like God and could do no wrong. He was not even suppose to be the pastor of FBC but somehow weaseled his way into it all.
He acts like he cares about people but he is more concerned with numbers and sex. Which is exactly what his problem is: he talks about innocent things in a sexual manner. I have a source inside there now and I get details every now and then, a lot of the times Sunday night is about sex, this that and everything else. |

Smart fathers run like hell from places where they get warnings to watch out for their daughters. You are talking here to a whole bunch of people who have been there, done that and carry the scars to prove it. Including any number of people who were once as vulnerable as your daughter is now. Churches that have safe children's programs put the volunteers through a vetting process that includes criminal background checks. I suggest you ask the people in charge of your daughter's safety how they are vetted there. And make sure you get hard copy evidence of what they claim they do. Trust me, "God showed me" or "S/he has a calling" or similar platitudes are not enough. Nor is a remonstration to trust God's anointed leaders. Do you really want your lovely girl to be indoctrinated that she is inferior to every male on the planet, that she exists to serve and glorify men, that she will never have any power or authority of her own, that she is the cause of men falling in sin just by virtue of being female? Do you want her to believe that her value begins and ends with her reproductive organs? Do you want her educational and career choices curtailed to things that will condemn her to excessive dependency on men or to poverty if she tries to make it "on her own" in the "approved" paths? You ARE getting advice. Whether you'll be smart enough to protect your daughter and take it remains to be seen. Are you going to believe the smooth talking snake oil salesman or the legions of people who have been poisoned by his brew? And what burdens will your daughter carry because of your decision? |

RE: Jack Schaap... Why so hated?
No one has mentioned Hyles. Schaap himself is no different than thousands of IFB pastors across America. He's got some good traits mixed in with his controlling and manipulative traits. Just about every IFB pastor does this. They are TAUGHT to do this by each other.
Schapp gets so much mention on this site because he is the next in line at that grand bastion of fundamentalism that is FBC - Hammond. He is the direct pastoral descendant of Jack Hyles. Hyles needs no comment. |
