I love him in House too, though. He's a talented actor.

Look Around You
Are You Being Served
Being Human
Merlin
Primeval
Extras
Fawlty Towers

I absolutely LOVE Brit tv. Most of those on your list I haven't seen, except for Doctor Who and Torchwood. There's another Brit show that I just got into, called Sherlock... don't know if you'd like it, but it's written and created by a couple of the Doctor Who writers (Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss). It's really very good.

MI-5 is next on my list to watch.

I've watched 6 series of it so far. It's quite good.

Forgot to mention Sherlock. Modernizations don't always work out, but I thought this series was wonderful! Benedict Cumberbatch (is that not the most British name in the world?) is fantastic as Holmes, and Bilbo makes a great Dr. Watson. Big Grin

I didn't even realize he'd be playing Bilbo until you mentioned it... and then I looked up The Hobbit on IMDB (I'm such a LotR nut... I should know these things) to be sure! LOL Nice Big Grin

Sherlock was absolutely wonderful! I can't wait til the second series comes out later this year. Smile

How does it compare to 24 (or some other gritty American show)?

It's not as big on the on the constant violence (although there is plenty of it, it's just not constant gun battles and fist fights) and more driven by dialog and personalities.

You can't assassinate someone until you've agonized about it for two hours and had tea to mull it over. If 24 were a Brit show it would be called 72 just for all the time spent in angst and tea drinking.

That being said, the characters and writing drive the show so even though it's a different feel, it's still quite good.

RE: Anglophiles
Anyone like "Wire in the Blood"? I have just started season 1 on Netflix.

The first case being split into two halves with credits in between thru me off at first. I was going on to the next case before I realized I had to go back to get the conclusion of the first one.

we are all a little looney
