Ron Paul. Is Out.
Rep. Ron Paul of Texas said Monday he will not compete in primaries in any of the states that have not yet voted — essentially confirming Mitt Romney will win the Republican presidential nomination.

Mr. Paul said he will continue to work to win delegates in states that have already voted and where the process of delegate-selection is playing out. He said that’s a way to make his voice heard at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa, Fla., in August.

“Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted,” Mr. Paul said. “Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have.”

He did encourage his supporters to still turn out and vote.

From your title and the current forum obsession with teh gayz, I thought it would have been "another" kind of announcement.

RE: Ron Paul. Is Out.
The headline's rather misleading. Ron's "out" but only "out" of lots of money it seems. He's accomplished his delegate strategy and says he doesn't have the money for the big primary states that are left. He has the votes to get nominated, and will, and may yet cause a brokered convention. He's not conceded, not supported anyone else, and not out of the race.

RE: Ron Paul. Is Out.
So now we're down to the polished, egomaniacal douchebag now that the batshit insane douchebag is out of the race? Great. That's great.

This race has given us the worst presidential choices ever. Can we start over, except with some good candidates this time? Or how about even halfway decent? Mediocre? I'll settle for mediocre. Somebody? Please? Is anyone listening?

I absolutely hate being an American right now. I wish I had options for emigrating. I really do. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to get work visas in my field anywhere that's halfway civilized.

RE: Ron Paul. Is Out.
GOOD. And he'll never ever run again. I blogged on political blog for three years and I got tired of listening to his supporters spout the same talking points. I finally gave up and closed all of my accounts.

I originally wanted Rick Perry, but I'll vote for Mitt over Obama.

I'll be glad when the convention is over and I can have a loud, hearty laugh at this.

RE: Ron Paul. Is Out.
My understanding is he's out of campaigning for votes in primaries, but is still sending his supporters to go raid state party conventions to try to steal more delegates. No indication that he will do anything but further marginalize himself, but that hasn't stopped him or his supporters.
