I'm not sure that I'd be comfortable placing definite limits on what we can learn by studying nature. There are quite a few things that we thought were impossible to know that we eventually figured out.

If people want to believe in things we have no evidence for that's fine with me. If a little ritual and mythology can help someone to find some measure of peace, who am I to tell them to believe otherwise?

What I don't like is when people say that because we don't know something we never will. One example is abiogenesis. Right now, we don't know what caused the first self-replicating molecule. I've heard many people say that because we don't understand it now, it's impossible, or that we should stop looking. To me at least, a gap in our knowledge is something we should seek to fill. I could never be content with just a supernatural explanation.
