RE: Breaking Up
We just didn't go back. The church was so big no one likely noticed. His mom still went there, so I'm sure she told people we'd gone heathern and joined a cult (actually it was an SBC church, so to them it may as well have been Heaven's Gate). We weren't particularly big tithers, so we weren't missed.

RE: How did yall go about leaving?
Same here; just got up one sunday and felt like I just couldn't face going back to that church. So I didn't. Aside from a few ackward moments when I ran into one of the deacon's wives while shopping, nobody said anything to me.
Some people get cool hallucinations that tell them to kill people. Mine just try to get me into trouble. Paul Southworth |

You said your wife doesn't go to church with you. [/quote] Yeah and due to my religion i have assumed her to be lost and on the way to Hell. Regardless of the conviction that led her to call on the Lord in the living room of my home 6 months ago. She went to church one time after that and hasnt' been back. So we all assumed she lost. Thanks to God and SFL, i know better. I havent been to church since last sun, ive missed wed nite and this sun morning. The Calls Have Started! . My friend called at 1pm and expressed his deep burden for my dicision to back off a while and told me that i was wrong for not seeking Godly councel, you know the verse. Of course that means go to the MOG. I told him i didnt' believe that. He said that i need to make sure im in the Lord's will. I said i Didn't believe missing church got me out of His will. Then he started quoting sripture about assembling ourselves out of the book of Heb. I told him i wasnt forsaking the assembling of ourselves, being i thought that to mean a complete turning from Christianity. He ended it with "I see that every scripture i give you, you come back and turn it around on me, so we will just end it there." This is the beginning of the end. My wife is fully up to date with everything and behind me 100% I know that more is yet to come from the camp and we are bracing for the worst. I am who I am. The rest is your problem. |

RE: How did yall go about leaving?
I didn't attend an IFB church, but a non-denominational that was pretty fundy in a lot of ways.
I just quit showing up. A few awkward moments. One awkward phone call that stated that two members were coming to our house to talk to us. A phone call back telling them I just wasn't real interested in talking about it and no we were not going to visit in person. I was nice. Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.--Howard Zinn |

"How did yall go about leaving?"
The problem is all inside your head, she said to me. The answer is easy if you take it logically I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free There must be fifty ways to leave the fundies She said it's really not my habit to intrude Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude There must be fifty ways to leave the fundies Fifty ways to leave the fundies You just slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just get yourself free Hop off the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free You just slip out the back, Jack . . . |
