Nighttime Sounds
I've been hearing this god-awful sound at night; I even called my FIL and had him step out on the porch so he could hear it. I found this clip; it's a fox, thank God. I was afraid it was something larger.

RE: Nighttime Sounds
Sounds can get scarier at night, can't they? Any foreign sound makes my 9-year old freak. Glad it was just a fox. Keep the pets inside!!

I'm glad I don't have to listen to a fox at night!

RE: Nighttime Sounds
My wife got spooked night before last by something that wasn't even a noise! I put my electric razor on the charger and she saw the tiny red light in the bathroom and sat straight up in the bed waking me while she was freaked out about the little charger light. Big Grin I don't even know how she noticed it but it scared her. Rolleyes

RE: Nighttime Sounds
We see foxes around here, but they're usually quiet.

RE: Nighttime Sounds
We used to have several fox families in our neighborhood. The association had them removed because one killed a cat. The cat was way more obnoxious than the foxes. We also have bobcats and an occasional bear, plus I've seen a coyote. I miss the foxes.

Lol I think Coyotes sound worse...esp when you're camping in the woods near their large group. Big Grin

RE: Nighttime Sounds
One year we took our kids and camped in the Smokies. I remember hearing wolves howling in the distance as we lay in the tent at night.

RE: Nighttime Sounds
My wife told me the following story that involves night time noises.

She went with a group from the local boys shelter and their house parents to go camping at Oconee State Park, which is in the mountains in SC. The kids are 8-12 and have most likely never been camping. The house father told them their are coyotes in the woods, which is the truth. They all go to bed scared for my wife since she is sleeping in an adjacent camp site in a hammock with a tarp over her. At about 5:15 AM a Screech Owl "screams" and wakes up everyone and the poor boys thought my wife was getting eaten. She was fine, as she knew what it was. The next morning they all thought she was a ghost. No, it was just an owl that sounds like your killing someone at times.
