RE: The Pill
I don't remember it ever being discussed at any class or "girl chapel" at PCC. I didn't take Marriage and Family, though, so it might have been discussed there. Somehow, I highly doubt it, though, since that would involve people actually thinking about sex. I can't even say that I even got a general impression of what the stance of the school/leadership might be when I was there. All the girls I knew ended up on the pill before getting married, though.
FWIW, most pills only prevent implantation if for some reason (usually inconsistency in time taken) they fail in their primary purpose--preventing ovulation. Also, PP noted, the inserts do explain all that here. If it's your first time on it, a doctor will often take the time to answer questions about it, as well. That doesn't mean they'll be sympathetic to squeamishness about un-implanted eggs, but they will answer those questions most of the time. Edit: I've been touched by something--I seem to be hitting the topt with most of my posts these days. hahaha Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust. |

RE: The Pill
There isn't evidence the pill works by preventing implantation (it works by preventing the release of an egg, and secondarily by preventing sperm from traveling as easily through the cervix), but there will never be enough evidence in the world to show it never has, either. That's why they include the warning. ...
I understand some people believe very strongly that what I wrote above is not accurate. That's fine. I did my research; everyone else has to do their own research, too. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” Bishop Desmond Tutu |

RE: The Pill
I can't be on the pill because the hormones mess with my system in a bad way, but I totally can't wait till i'm old enough to be sterilized. I guess they figure a woman can't make up her mind whether or not she really doesn't want any more kids until she's 35. But guys can get a vasectomy as soon as they are an adult. go figure.

For clarification, since its not something I'm well-educated on, when you say sterilized is that the same as tubes tied? boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. RE: The Pill
I'm pretty sure that HAC was fine with birth control, because I've heard them tell married couples to wait and get to know each other for a couple years before having kids.
I've been on birth control for a little over a year, because I want to wait a few years before having kids. (Maybe when I'm 30.) |

The other kind is a blocking of the tubes by a tiny device and letting scar tissue form around it for three months. ![]() (05-31-2012 01:25 AM)myotch Wrote: How did your parents take it when you told them you were female? |

I've had it for over 6 years (it lasts for 10), and I absolutely love it. Nothing to remember or screw up, cost-effective in the long term, as effective as tubal ligation, and of course, no hormones! |

Can you find a new doctor? I'm 35 now and this procedure was offered to me at least 3 years ago by my GYN. I haven't gone through with it--time and money always seem to be at a premium and the pill works just fine for me. The way it always was, is no longer good enough. RE: The Pill
I think doctors can by more open to tubal ligation at a younger age because it is a reversible procedure. You still have to convince them you're very serious if you haven't had any children. The other method is non-reversible, so I can understand the hesitation. Imagine the scenario if they performed this on someone in their early 20s who later changed their mind about it.... I would be hesitant as a doctor, as well.
