Christopher Peterman Expelled from BJU

RE: Christopher Peterman Expelled from BJU
Not surprised a bit. I don't believe for a second that posting a song on his FB wall was the reason.

I went to BJU. I had an academy student (high school) roommate get shipped. It really was horrible. One day she was there...and the next she wasn't. We were allowed to talk to her. She had some seriously crappy stuff going on in her family and I believe she was honestly responding to that mess in a way most normal teenagers would--by acting out. I happened to run into her a year later and she looked SO different...happy. Something she definitely wasn't when we were roommates.

While I think BJU's timing and motive are definitely sketchy, I think this is probably the best thing that could happen to Mr. Peterman. I wish him well. And I hope he continues to shine a spotlight on BJU.

The way it always was, is no longer good enough. You make me want to be brave. - Nichole Nordeman

RE: Christopher Peterman Expelled from BJU
I don't think anyone really believes the facebook post was the real reason for his expulsion. It's a cover. They couldn't very well expel him for DRBJU because of the publicity, so they waited until the heat was off them--or so they thought. Only their Stepfords believe their line.

Yeah. I actually liked her and though she was really down to earth instead of this Uber Fundy.

I was accused of not having a good attitude about the rules too. My roommate even wrote that in my yearbook. She said ..."I'm so glad you have a good attitude" and that should be interpreted as "you have a bad attitude." Having to get a pass to go home when I was almost 20 years home was ridiculous to me.

Going to MBBC was like regressing back to grade school. I was a new Christian when I went there so I experienced culture shock. I couldn't believe how immature the students were but I don't blame them b/c that's the way they grew up; sheltered and all.

Imagine me, a 28 year old married with 2 children man, coming there and being subject to the stupid rules.

There's a video up now:

You are actually gonna try and twist this into making BJU the victim!?! That is laughable.

BJU was doing something very immoral by placing Chuck Phelps in a leadership position, and many people (students, graduates, and other Christians) clearly understood this. Mr. Peterman simply drew attention to this ongoing evil at BJU and asked them to do the right thing. He handled this as a mature Christian man should, by refusing to allow it to be quietly swept under the carpet.

It is quite apparent BJU leadership has no conscience and makes decisions based only on their own self interest.

I expect this decision to bite them in their collective hineys.

RE: Christopher Peterman Expelled from BJU
So, they can assign an arbitrary number of demerits for things that aren't against the rules, and even when they don't add up to the magic number, they can kick him out anyway. But it wasn't for starting Do Right BJU. And seeking counsel is intimidation. How timid are these guys?

And this is the condemnation: that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

And since Mark didn't clarify, even though we can't hear his tone through the keyboard, I will: AFTU, I believe Mark was being very sarcastic, pointing out how ridiculous it is that a student was "intimidating" the administration of a place as controlling as BJU.

You're both right.
